“Pizza!”
“Tacos!”
“No, Pizza!”
“Tacos Tacos Tacos!”
“You won the other time, it’s my turn now! Pizza!” I whined.
“Lalalalala I can’t hear you!” Cole plugged his fingers into his ears.
“I don’t care! Pizza! Bleah!” I stuck out my tongue childishly.
“Oh what’s that you say? You want Tacos ? Well goodie, cause I want’em too!” Cole stuck his tongue out too.
Cole has been here for a month now, and my life’s practically back to normal…I guess. And once everything had been settled, my parents flees to some unknown country, leaving Cole and I alone at home, giving the excuse, “The animals needs me, Alyssa honey! How can I leave them alone? They’re begging me to come help them. How can I say no? Oh, I think I can hear the polar bears cry for help! I gotta go, bye Alyssa, don’t fight too much with Cole!”
And poof, they’re gone like the wind.
Great. Just great.
At least everything’s going great between Cole and I. We fight a lot, just like how brothers and sisters do. He’s fitting into school perfectly well too. He’s got a whole gang following him like lost puppies, worshipping him, creating “Cole Evans is a God” fan clubs, and he’s got into basketball. He’s totally jock type, popular material. Unlike me.
And as for Jeremy and I, the study date was a success. Of course, by study date I mean 5 percent study and 95 percent “date”. But don’t get the wrong idea! “Date” as in doing best friend stuff like watching movies and talking and eating…and talking. It seemed like a date though. Did Jeremy see it as a date? I mean, pft, he probably doesn’t see me as anything else but his best friend. The feeling’s mutual…I think.
Wait a minute. I think? Alyssa, you think? No, I’m definite. Jelly is nothing more than a friend. Just a very..very..very good friend. Yeah.
Gosh, my face’s red and my heart’s pounding. What’s happening to me? Damn you raging hormones.
“Ding-dong!” Oh, the doorbell just rang.
I headed for the door, shaking off the thoughts in my head.
“Hello! Taco delivery? “ A bright freckle-infested girl greeted me with a huge smile.
“Oh, yeah Tacos. Yep, sure, how much is it?” I smiled absentmindedly, before it clicked within me. “Wait. WAIT A MINUTE. I didn’t order Tacos…”
Then realization hit me.
“COLE!! GET YOUR ASS HERE!” I shouted across the hallway, a note of finality in my voice. Anger bubbled within me and I was sure I was shaking. The taco-delivery girl had a quizzical look on her face, but she knew better than ask any questions. Smart lass.
Cole appeared sheepishly and rested his arm carelessly on my shoulder. He just came out of the bathroom and his hair was dripping wet, matting onto his face, a towel wrapped around his hips, the upper part of his body fully exposed.
He gave the delivery girl a toothpaste-ad smile and signed the receipt, giving the exact amount of money. The girl, probably stupefied by his good looks or something, left with a silly grin on her face, caressing the hand that Cole had briefly brushed against when he handed over the receipt. I think I heard her mutter something like “I’m never going to wash this hand again! “And then there were squealing in the background.
