The obnoxious loud ringing echoed through the halls from the main door. Ugh. I pulled the pillow from under me and pressed it against my face, trying to muffle the sound. It wasn’t quite working.
“Go get the damn door, Al. It’s annoying.” Seth reached his hand out and slapped my thigh hard before retreating back to his air mattress. I groaned and coiled back to my original sleeping position—you know, the type where we bring our knees up to our chest? Yeah that position. It was freaking cold and I didn’t want to leave the warmth that the bed covers gave me just to open the door. No way.
Ding Dong.
Ding Ding Ding Diiiii-ng Dong.
Diiiiiiiiii—
“ARGH!” I growled, pushing myself off the bed. The person at the door was sure getting impatient.
--ing Dooooong.
Who the hell was at the door? Ugh, for heaven’s sake, who the heck in the right state of mind would annoy people at the break of dawn?
Feeling annoyance bubble within me, I slipped the bed covers off my feet rapidly. The cold wind bit at my feet and I felt a shiver run through my spine. Seth, on the other hand, gratefully pulled the bed covers off my bed, snuggling under MY warm blankets.
Ugh.
Seth and I shared a room yesterday, leaving my room empty for Cole to sleep in. I felt a pang of disappointment that I didn’t get to sleep with Cole, but don’t it the wrong way! Sleep as in lying side by side and snoring away, not anything like Seth had thought of in that perverted mind of his. I mean, I’ve been away from Cole for FOUR years, shouldn’t Seth let Cole and I patch things up or something?
Sheesh, Seth thought it was dangerous for a girl to sleep with a guy, especially when the guy was a stranger I hadn’t seen in four years. His words, not mine. Seriously Seth? We’re siblings, it’s not like we’ll do anything…wrong. Okay, that sounded wrong. It felt wrong for me to be thinking that too. Brrr. I shivered a little when mental pictures flashed through my mind.
Anyway, that was how I ended up in Seth’s room, but I had bullied him off his own bed, so he had no choice but to sleep on the air mattress. Hah! Revenge is sweet.
Ding Dong!
Oh right, the door. Ugh.
I shuffled wearily down the hallway and groggily opened the door.
I mumbled some incoherent words before finally being able to make up what I was trying to say. “What?”
I looked at the person before me through blurry eyes; I hadn’t been able to put on my contacts yet so everything was just a fuzzy picture. I managed to make up Matthew’s face, an amused expression on his face as he stared back at me.
Matthew! Oh my gosh! What the hell was he doing at my door?
My eyes shot open when I realized that I was in my pajamas plus I had terrible bed hair plus I had eye gunk in the corner of my eyes plus there was dried up drool at my chin. To sum everything up, I looked awful, and who wanted their boyfriend to see the horrible side of them? Matthew couldn’t see me like this! This is a disaster!
Without thinking, I did the most rational thing I could think of.
Bang!
I slammed the door shut in his face.
Okay, maybe that wasn’t the most sensible thing I could’ve done.
