Ring

Really Who calls early Sunday morning? I want my sleep people.

I try to ignore the ringing, but it keeps going.

Fine.

"Hello."

"Hello this is The school district calling for Mia Belmonte."

"This is she."

"Hello Ms. Belmonte, I just called to inform you that you have been chosen to start trying to become next years 1st grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School."

"Oh my, this is amazing. When do I start trying?"

"Tomorrow."

"Oh okay. I'll be there. Thanks"

"Have a nice day Ms. Belmonte."

"You too." I hang up the phone and I start jumping on my bed. I can't believe this is happening! My dream is coming true! I'm going to influence children.

I hear my door burst open and both Cassia and Anna run in. Anna is holding a lamp and Cassia, a knife. My friends.

"What's going on?" Cassia is the first to talk.

"I thought someone was hurting you with all the ruckus." Anna is still holding the lamp like if she is just wait for someone to pop up.

"And you thought a lamp was going to safe me?" I smirk at them.

"Well at least I tried." She shrugs her shoulder and puts the lamp on my nightstand.

"I just received a call from the district. I got the job!" Right when I say job I start jumping on the bed again.

"You are going to be working with kids?" I hear Cassia ask. "You haven't been in the same room as a child since you left your family. And you haven't gone back because you say you can't stand looking at all the children in your family and knowing your daughter isn't apart of that." I stop jumping on the bed.

"Wait. daughter?" Cassia forgot that Anna has been here and heard everything. We both turn to Anna.

"Yes." I say and then I turn to Cassia. "I have been in a room with children."

"Yes. But never actually interacting with them." She comes closer to me. "You told me yesterday, when you got back from your date, that you told Enzo that you couldn't meet his daughter. Now you got a job, where your job is to interact with them." I look at the floor.

"I have to try. It's been 4 years, I can't be afraid to connect with a child."

"Good." Cassia says before leaving the room.
I turn to Anna knowing that she wants answers.

"The girl in my nightmares is me. That is what I ran away from." I tell her.

"Oh, why didn't I know this before? I thought we were friends."

"Anna, we are. I just didn't want you to know how really messed up my life was."

"So all the dreams you told me about, they were memories?" She asks.

"Yes."

"Congrats on the job." She turns to walk away.

"Wait. Anna, you don't have more questions to ask?"

"I understand that sometimes it's better to keep secrets to yourself." She walks out of my room.

******************************************
I am sitting in a bench responding to Cara's letter, when I look up and I see Enzo talking to a man that looks about the same age as him.
Go say hi. You want to.

I get up from the bench and I make my way towards them. As I'm getting closer I hear there conversation.

"You can possibly tell me that you told Vivianna where I am?" I have never heard Enzo angry, at this moment he is.

"Enzo, she wants to see Sofia. She is her family."

"Well I don't care. Tell Vivianna that she chose them. She wanted the comfort of their wealth. She can't just decide one day that she wants to be apart of Sofia's."

"I understand..."

"Enzo!" I get closer to him and I give him a hug.

"Mia! What are you doing here?" He still hasn't let go of me.

"I was writing, when I saw you and I couldn't wait to give you the great news." I pull from him and I turn to the man standing next to Enzo.

He extends his hand.

"Marcello Moretti, I am Enzo's true love." He smirks as he says the last part.

"His joking. He is my best friend." Enzo explains.

"I'm Mia Belmonte." I look down at his extended hand. Mia do it! He won't hurt you. I grab his hand and give it a small shake.

"I know who you are. Enzo won't shut up about you since he met you." I blush.

"Moretti. Shut up." I turn to Enzo and I see a glimpse of pink on his cheeks.

"So have you said yes to Enzo?" What?

"I swear Moretti, shut up."

"Yes about what?" I ask Marcello.

"He says that he likes you and that you haven't said yes to being his girlfriend."

"Really, Marcello. You don't know how to shut up." Enzo looks annoyed.

"Sorry man. I just wanted to get to know the first girl to ever say no to you." I turn to Enzo.

"So, you are a player?" I fold my arms.

"No. 'Player' doesn't cut it. He is more of a manwhore. Right, Enzie." Marcello pats Enzo on his back. "I mean the whole family was surprise that after all of the women he has been with only one ended up pregnant." What? I mean, it had to happen."

"Okay. Marcie, why don't you go back home." He looks angry.

"Did I say too much? Shit man." Marcello looks worried. "I'll leave." He says before turning and walking away.

"He doesn't know how to shut up." Enzo says under his breath.

"You are a manwhore?" I ask him.

"Was. Once I found out that I was having a daughter I realized how fucked up I was. The universe decided that I needed karma and gave me a daughter."

"Poor you." I say sarcastically. "Anyway, I got great news. I start my new job tomorrow."

"Wow that's amazing! Where will you be working?"

"Lincoln Elementary, I'm going to be a first grade teacher."

"No way. I work at the high school." He looks happy.

"You do? I never asked where you worked."

"Now I don't have to leave the school to see you, since it's a small school, all grades are on one campus." He smiles at me.
