Look! A new chapter. Thymajestictree is keeping on schedule? What is this madness!?

They were even closer now, just a few minutes from being below us. They weren't far, but they were searching thoroughly. A moonless sky loomed above us, the stars barely lighting the surroundings. We were shrouded in a cloak of shadow. However, if they happen to look up when they are directly beneath us, they may notice how unnaturally dense the leaves are, and how they can't see a single glittering spark in the sky. I have to lure them away.

I can't reveal myself. They'll catch me, and if I die, so does Meir. I need something to move far away. I can hardly think with the careers so close but I soon foem a plan. Silently I feel around my belt for a spear. I grab one, and slide it out, wincing at every tiny sqeak. Once it is in my hand I start to climb, taking painstakingly tiny movements to create minimul sound. I kept climbing, wishing I had more time. There were only seconds to go before they would reach us. I breached the canopy - I was lucky, we had chosen a free which was a few metres higher than the rest. I stared in awe at the almost perfect sea of leaves ahead of me, before voices brought me back. I took the spear, and as best as a could while holding a tree I threw it into the distance .

Luckily spears aren't to different from knives, and I was already proficent with those, so it sailed easily through the empty night sky, falling more than a dozen metres from our base. I was hoping to make noise to distract the careers, but by some great coincidence, it plunged sidewaysbthrough the trees, continuing away from us, making it sound like someone was running. The careers pursued it, quickly moving away from us, and leaving the night still again. I leant against the tree trunk, on top of the world, silently laughing in sheer relief.

Full of euphoria, I scaled down. I saw Meir's eyes glinting in the darkness,  and came towards them.
" You saved me," he whispers.
" I saved us," I say, looking into his sleepy, blurred eyes, " I couldn't live without you,"
I think he says, " I love you," but I'm  not sure, so I don't answer. Whatever I say, the truth always lurks in the back of my mind, snarling and getting in my way like an untrained dog. One of us is going to die. We aren't going to live happily ever after because one half isn't going to live at all. I roll over in my sleeping bag and wonder what the next day will bring. Hopefully something good.

My eyes open to harsh sunlight the next morning. But what I see next is worse. Meir is incredibly pale. He looks almost translucent he is so ill.
I feel his head. He's burning with fever.

I search the medical bag for anything to help but only find fever pills. I give Meir some with a little water to wash them diwn with, but I know nothing that is in the arena will help him right now. He has lost to much blood. All he needs is a blood donation or blood creating pills (developed in district 12) but they can only come by parachute. I start to silently beg Aidi for some but then realise that I should aski him aloud. I do. There is no reply, no parachute, but that dosen't suprise me. It may take a while to raise the money for Meir's medicine. The only problem is, we don't have a while.

Around Midday a crack of thunder echos across the arena and the clouds burst, instantly drenching us. I tap Meir up tight in his sleeping bag, he's been drifting in and out of consciousness all day. In fact a few of the times, I've woken him up, just to be sure I can.

I take my sleeping bag and tie it above us, sloped so it dosen't let the rain in through the side. Then, with my jacket over my head. I try to disguise our crude shelter. After many called attempts I eventually give up on the least offensive imitation of nature. I go inside and squeeze into the remaining bag with Meir. He leans against me creating a a damp circle on his shoulder and cheek. We sit there for a while, thinking our own thoughts occasionally making unconnected remarks, simply being together. Im the early evening I finally move, hearing something familiar above the rain. I run out side and deal the small parcel, a parachute. Inside are two boxes. And a note which reads "Here are the things you need to survive"

The note dosen't lie, because laying inside the first section of packinging is a small bag of light blue pills from District 12.
And in the second lies an untainted, sharp, perfect knife.

Hey look a wild knife appeared! Yay! I hope you enjoyed the chapter!
I have to have my vaccinations tommorrow so I am a little distracted sorry (oh and incase anyone wonders I am pro- vaccination but I find needles scary which is why I'm worried :( )

Comment Question: Do you think any other districts would have changed their trade after the war? (Feel free to comment anything else you want to say too btw)
