I'M BACK! Sorry about missing the last update. My phone ran out of charge and I didn't get a charger until Monday - when I also got my cat!!!! Anyway by that point I just decided to wait until this day to update. Back to normal next week though.... hopefully.

"EMILY!" Meir shouts happily, pulling her into a massive hug.
"Be quiet, " I remind him softly, "We don't want to attract anyone"

I'm not sure if I'm happy that Lepus found Emily. Conflicted feelings swirl in my head, constricting my airways with sadness and delight simultaneously. I remember when my Emily died. I remember wishing, on every star and bit of fluff, on everything, that she would come back. I would have given anything to have her back. Perhaps the universe is granting my wish, giving me this Emily as a substitute for mine. Yet if I let her in, and care for her, protect her, I will grow to love her. Which would be perfect, if we weren't in the games. Because I know that, if I want to get out - for others more than myself, she's going to have to die. All relationships that are made in the games are temporary. And I don't want to lose her again.

I am suddenly aware that the others are talking, I listen in and realise they are talking about something- somewhere even- that they found.

" -and there it was, just as little Emily told me. A village. Full of food and other goods probably. We didn't stay long. If the Careers found-"

" Careers-by-Genetics," says Meir, interrupting Lepus, " That's what Hazels calls them, after all they haven't been training have they?" And he shoots a loving smile at me, which quickly falters when he sees the sadness I forgot to disguise. As Lepus rectifys his mistake, Meir silently asks if I'm alright, but I shake my head, indicating its not the right time.

"Anyway, we weren't prepared to take on any possible Careers-by- Genetics so we decied to come back here and get you guys. We're just waiting for Meir to heal completely. Not that we mind waiting, buddy," He adds kindly, " Though we ought to go as soon as possible,"

"Why don't we go in the evening, as soon as the anthem plays we'll head down the tree, until then, we can rest." I suggest. I catch Meir's eye and he must understand because he immediately volunteers to be on guard. Everyine else is too tired to object and soon we are lying in the sun waiting for the rhythmic breathing of our peers to imply that we can speak freely. Eventually we hear them and Meir says in faint whisper " What's wrong?"

" Do you remember when I was crying in training, and I told you about my sister. Well I'm scared that if I get too close to Emily..."
" It'll feel like you've lost your sister again. I get it." He moves a stray strand of hair out of my face. " Let them lead us to the village. Then, if we need to, we can leave. The numbers are dwindling now, anyway, we'd have to leave soon."
I nod and he quickly kisses my head, before tucking the bag around me.

"Now go to sleep, " He makes his voice go high and mimics the capitol accent, " Tonight's a big big night,"

"Shut up, Effie," I groan at him, and fall asleep.

Siblings and tributes die. I am drowed in paper slips after being pushed into a great glass bowl. We all die countless times in imaginative and unlikely ways. I'm shot, I'm stabbed, I'm poisoned, I'm blown up, I fall.

Then I wake up cold and shaking.
With Meir beside me.

Hi! I hope you enjoyed!
Comment Question: what sort of things would be in the village and how would they help our protagonists? Or even cause harm to the protagonists?
