Dedicated to danman22222 and love099096!! Keep Commenting! And remember to comment for actors on chapter ten! I've decieded that there won't be a deadline I'll accept ideas until all characters are filled and just dedicate as I go along. Sorry for such a long authors note!
A tall man with blue eyes and strange grey hair, sweeps through the doors towards me. The grim expression he wears sets me a bit on edge but a smile brings me back. He smiled from his eyes. I trust people who smile from their eyes.
"Sorry about the scowl I had some" He pauses, " Family trouble." The delicate way he says it tells me it's not for me to know so I don't intrude. I nod and wait for him to introduce himself.
"I am Quinn Defina. And I will be your stylist."
" I'm Hazel Conifer and I will be your tribute."
"I like you" He smiles again and I see the sparkles on his eyelashes."Let's go!"
He leads me over to a slowly rotating podium.
"Robe off, please. There are no secrets here."
I place the robe on a hook and walking onto the podium. He measures and unsure what to do, I find myself staring at his hair. It's not grey, as I first thought; it's very pale red and yellow and pink and blue and orange and purple and green. My guess is if you were to get a picture of the spectrum and randomly stuck your finger anywhere you would be able to find that colour in almost it's lightest form somewhere on Quinn's head. There is also a lot of metallic silver which is why it looks grey from a distance. When he finished measuring me he hands back the robe and takes me into a smaller room with sofas and a table. Lunch has been set out; some kind of meat, salad and these strange rectangular slices of fried potato Quinn calls "chips". Whatever they are they are crunchy and a little too salty for me. Afterwards we have fruit and cream and another new thing called "chocolate sauce". I think I've heard of chocolate before somewhere and I enjoy it much more than the chips.
Quinn questions me about home all through lunch and is pleased when I tell him about the dresses I make.
"Finally someone who can appreciate the work in my clothes. Don't get me wrong, the Capitol people are lovely but they just don't understand the art in it. Clothes are just a trend round here."
I try to be sympathetic but we don't really have trends. You wear what you can afford, a custom from the days of the games when we were poor in the districts. I ask Quinn about what I'm wearing and he snaps into action and guides me over to the original room to see my dress.
"I got them to adjust it to your size during lunch. You're smaller than I thought."
"But it just makes you cuter!" Pipes one of the girls from earlier squidging my cheek. She has bright make up: turquoise on her eyelids, Green eyelashes, bright blue lips and hot pink hair. It hurts my eyes at first but it soon becomes normal. She gives me a quick hug then pulls away.
" I wish everyone was this nice to me back home" I say, my eyes watering when I think of home, there weren't many kind people but it was where I belonged.
"Why weren't they nice to you? You're such a sweetie!" Says the same girl and the other two nod in agreement.
"My stupid name" I mutter, Quinn snorts.
"That wouldn't be a problem round here, stupid names are the best!" Quinn laughs.
" How is Hazel a strange name?" Asks another one of the girls, the smallest one who has pink hair and purple eyelashes. Add a pair of wings and she would be a perfect storybook fairy. The last girl explains that Conifer and Hazel are trees. She looks the most normal of the trio with brown hair and little visible make up. The only incredible features are her rainbow irises. Contact lenses I assume.
"Marin, here, is our walking encylopedia" Quinn says.
" I prefer the term Genius" Marin puts in.
"And I prefer the term know-it-all" The first girl murmers to me.
"This" Quinn gestures to the fairy girl, "is Titania"
"Queen of the faries in one of Shakespeare's plays. I think it's quite fitting" Marin sees my look of confusion " He was a playwright in a place called England hundreds and hundreds of years ago. He was great. I know loads about him from really old history books. Barely anyone knows about him anymore."
"But we're experts on him thanks to Marin."
"And Coral, is comic relief in these stressful times." Quinn concluded.
" Hey! I'm not just funny I also really nice to everyone. It's just part of my wonderful character!"
"She's really modest too"
"So Hazel now you know we have stupid names too do you feel better?" Titania asks as Marin and Coral fight.
"A little" I smile.
" A rose by any other name would smell as sweet," Marin quotes dramatically while pulling Coral's pink hair.
"Shakespeare?" I ask.
"Shakespeare." She confirms as Coral elbows her.
" Is this normal?" I enquire to Titania.
" Unfortunatly, yes" she sighs.
" Do you want to see the dress while these idiots finish their pointless fight?" Offers Quinn.
I nod and follow Titania into the room where the dress is kept.Hi! Btw when I said chips I meant fries/ chips not crisps/chips for anyone who was confused. Vote add to libary comment and ENJOY !!!! New update soon! Love you all!!
