Old to New

I was in the large lecture hall, everything seemed to be, almost scary. No one here was someone I knew. I inhaled deeply and stayed calm, my right hand writing neatly onto my paper, carefully taking notes in class for next exam. In one more month I have to take a final test for this semester.

I exhaled, with my friend turning bright red when talking about.... Camera Lens.

Even if we were both at the same school, it was a big famous and our schedule was entirely different. He wasn't in any of my classes, and most of the time I couldn't really, look like I was calm.

"Um, Ms. Kagamine, was it? I was wondering if you would like to go to the nurse's office? You look bright red," the professor told me, noticing my redness. I shook my head, turning to the next page as I continued to take notes.

I was glad to hear my savior, the bell, ring. It just seemed appropriate to completely smack my books close as I walked off, noticing that it was the last period of the morning, which meant lunch, and cafeteria, and Len.

In high school, I was doing fine without someone by my side. When Len came, I felt like I could rely on other people instead of having trust issues with them. Also, I could trust him again. It wasn't his fault the first time. However, I felt if I dated him at that time, things would be different.

I wouldn't know what friendship was.

As I walked to the cafeteria, I got my usual food and sat next to Len, who was waiting patiently at the table. I turned to him with a smile on my face and sat down right next to me as he draped his arm around my shoulders as I rested my head on his.

"Ah, it was really tiring today," I said and got my fork and started to eat. Len looked at my food oddly.

"Oranges as usual, Rin?" He asked as I nodded, picking up one with the fork and handed it to him. He opened his mouth and are it. His eyes popping open.

"These..are pretty good! Sheesh, I didn't know! That's why this whole time...woah..," he said as I giggled, kissing him lightly on the nose.

"Nothing changed, right?" I asked as he nodded, gently playing with my hair. "Nothing has changed," he replied as I took another forkful of oranges.

"Don't you remember, when I made that promise?" He asked. My eyes widened as I hid my face in my sweater as my cheeks turned bright red. Everything that I remembered, was a vivid memory.

*flashback*

"Say..Rin? What do you think would happen when we get our degrees and everything?" he asked me. "And..we were still together?" I asked as he nodded. "I-I don't know. You?" I said. He smiled and stared at the sunset with me. "I would marry you," he told me slowly. I looked at him in shock as he gazed at me. "L-Len...." I said blushing. He leaned closer to me and our foreheads touched. "I would wait four years of pain again, just for your answer," He whispered to me. I smiled. Instead I was the one that kissed him. I was shocked with myself. But I felt him kiss me back. When I pulled away the sun was down and I saw a night sky.

*end of flashback*

"Th-Thank was one t-time!" I exclaimed in embarrassment and continued to bury my face in my sweater as I was red faced. I heard Len nervously chuckle. "Rin, you really haven't changed," he said as I pulled my face out of my sweater to see what was going on.

He quickly put his hand on my red cheek and looked at me with his blue eyes, sparkling. "You have no idea how long I've waited to kiss you again," he said.

All of a sudden, I felt his lips on mine. The kiss was soft and gentle as I was turning red by the second. Soon after he gave me a cheeky grin as I nervously chuckled.

"S-Same old Len..," I said and threw away my trash. I was glad I was with someone like Len. Because, he would actually fight for me. Unlike, Mikuo, who's long gone history. I wanted him, to stay with me forever. Even if it would only exist in fairy tales, I would want this one to be a reality.

"I HATE YOU!" I heard someone yell in the cafeteria. I could tell, that it was a girl student. She threw the flowers at the guy, like when Meiko did with Kaito. Her name was, Lily. And the guy's name was Al, who's nicknamed Big Al. "Go and die or at least get away from me! You're just a player with such emotions I can't trust you! Go be happy with Sweet Ann the girl you cheated on with me!"

My eyes widened in shock as they were causing a whole scene in the cafeteria. Al just stood there as Lily stormed off. I did know who she was, even though I never really paid attention.

She was always the one not afraid to speak out her mind. She would always tell her opinions in class. She's friends with Luka, even though I didn't really know her.

Of course, it was in my nature, wanting to help her. I stopped by with Len as he looked at me with an odd expression on his face. "I haven't seen this since Meiko and Kaito," he said. I nodded. "I'm going to go and, maybe calm Lily down? She's been through a lot," I told Len and kissed him on the cheek and went to walk off. It wasn't long before he grabbed my hand.

"Lily? You know her? Never mind that, it could be dangerous. She's been through a lot, and she might be...a bit like Meiko," Len said. I shook my head and gave him a reassuring smile. "It's not like I'll die," I told him and smiled. He slowly let go of my hand as I waved at him. I went through the hallways to find a bathroom with screaming.

"Dammit...damn that Al! What a big-shot he thinks he is!"

I could tell it was the voice of Lily. I opened the door and found her sitting down under the sink as she hit her knees with her fists furiously as tears escaped her eyes. She turned to look at me with wide eyes of despair and anger. Her eyes red and puffy as she started to sniffle.

"Kagamine-San? The good girl in all my classes? What are you doing here with a wreck like me?" She asked and buried her face in her knees. I sat next to her under another sink. I had not much problems since, I was shorter than her.

"I've been through the same thing, Lily. It's one of the worst things to happen. You'll get through it someday. It took me two years to forget about it," I said as Lily had a slight smile on her face. Even so, she looked down in sadness.

"How could such a fragile girl like you get hurt? You're always red-faced when you come into class, always holding your book over your chest shyly. I guess everyone gets hurt in this world," Lily said as I sighed, getting up from my sitting position and extended a hand toward Lily.

"Now, do you want to continue to live your live in pain, upperclassman? Or do you want to live it to the fullest?" I asked her. Lily started to laugh as tears still fell out of her eyes.

"Of course the second one, Kagamine-San!" She said and took my hand, though I struggled to get her up since she was bigger than me. It wasn't long before the rest of my classes started to start again as I ran back to the cafeteria where I left my stuff as I went back to the lecture hall.

"Old friends and new friends," I thought in my mind as I spotted Lily in the hallways, walking with Luka. "She reminds me of Yukari," I said and smiled, opening the door and taking my seat.
