"Darling? You need to get up. You have to be at the airport in 4 hours and we have to do final checks and goodbyes and everything." My mother said under the base of my door.

"Yeah, I'll be down soon." I waved her away, turning over onto my side.

The door creaked shut and Sid stood up and did a little twirl/stretch on my bed.

"Good morning cutie." I said to him, kissing him on his little head. "Did you sleep alright? I need to get up now."

All I got back was a purr and a stair but I know that meant yes.

I pushed him to the side and slipped out of the bed, brushed my lifeless brown hair, changed clothes to fat pants and a baggy shirt, washed my face and grabbed my phone, sliding it into the back pocket of my fat pants.

"Hurry Shayla, your toast will be going cold hunny." She yelled from down stairs.

"Coming." I sighed.

"Are you sure you have everything? Phone, camera, sweeties, books?" My mother said watching me wheel my suitcase to the car.

"No, I'm not sure, I didn't look for the 6th time, I forgot." I sighed.

"Stop with the sarcasm, you're going away from me for the first time in your life and I'm nervous." She said playing with her car keys.

"Don't be mum, I'm 17 now, I can look after myself." I smiled.

"Please don't leave." My mothers eyes suddenly turned from a bubbly blue to a watery grey.

"Mother, its not easy for me either, we will be fine, I promise, and trust me, ill be happier over there then here, that's the main reason we both agreed on this." I smiled hugging her tightly.

"You're right dear, you've grown up to be such a strong child, I'm proud of you." She said whipping away the tears and planting a long kiss on my forehead. "Goodbye honey."

"Bye mum, take good care of Sid for me." I smiled, trying to lighten the mood.

"I will."

After getting my ticket and going through customs, I realised that this was it. The day I dreamt of for 4 years. I was finally leaving the shitty memories that school gave me but also leaving my family. It was a hard thing to think about, not seeing her for 3 years, but I shook it away and went over to the little shop thing.

I grabbed a packet of chips, a chocolate bar and a bottle of water. I paid the nice man at the counter and sat over to where I was previously sitting. I grabbed my laptop out of my bag and using the free wi-fi, went on Facebook. I scrolled through my feed and something caught me by surprise, I had a notification. I clicked the little picture of the world and saw that Dylan Ahern (mean guy from school) had posted something on my wall, I clicked on it and waited for the link to load. My page came up with one comment.

'I hope your plane crashes, faggot'

I sighed, '27 likes.'
