Maybe our shadows represent our demons. They are always with us walking through the light but they are unable to do anything because the light blinds them and weakens them. But in times of darkness they disappear because darkness and Demons go well together. They team up to destroy us completely. They merge together as one when we don't notice and they kill us slowly and painfully. And we are weak in the darkness because we can't see.
