"She's been gone for hours," Brendon said. "Someone should go out and look for her." Suddenly there was a frantic knock on the front door. Thomas walked over and opened it and Calum walked in quickly.
"So what happened?" Will asked. "Did they trust you?"
"Calum, what's wrong?" Dylan asked. He was really shaken up.
"N-Nick is awful... h-he... oh god," he said, putting his head in his hands.
"Were you there when they shot Luke?" Brendon asked, sitting next to him.
"I-I did it... they made me. I made sure not to hit any major arteries b-but it was awful... and then when Cayla showed up-"
"Wait, where's Cayla?" Grant asked.
"H-he shot her. He stabbed her. Repeatedly. I wanted to stop him, but there was nothing I could do. When they left, I sat with her and she.. she begged me. She was bleeding out. She had over 100 cuts and 50 deep wounds... I didnt want to do it, but she was dying. And suffering. She begged me to kill her..." he burried his head in his hands and I heard a slight sob escape his lips.
"She's.. she's dead?" Ava asked.
"Calum, where's her body? Where did they leave her?" Robbie asked.
"I-I don't remember. But after they made us leave the cops showed up... someone reported it..."
"The cops are involed now?" He just nodded in response.
"Nick told me to come back, pretend like everything was perfect, but I can't... I shot my best friend and then killed his wife..."
"It's going to be fine, okay. We're going to get through this." Suddenly there was a crash from the bedroom.
"Dammit, what now?" Grant asked. I followed him back to the room and saw Luke sitting on the floor, clutching his chest. There was a broken lamp next to him. Grant ran over and kneeled next to him, helping him back up.
"What happened?" He asked as Grant helped him sit down.
"You were shot," he replied. "Do you remember anything?"
"No one tells Luke about Cayla," I heard Brendon whisper.
"I. I dont know... it's a bit hazey..." he groaned and clutched his chest.
"Okay, just take it easy, okay?" Grant said, making him lay back down.
"I remember... being dragged to Caitlyn and Thomas's apartment building, and then... then Calum was there, standing behind Caitlyn who was tied to a chair. They told him to shoot me, but I could see he really didn't want to..."
"Well, he did. He's here now, and he feels awful about it. You're lucky he likes youn or you'd be dead."
"I need to talk to him. Please?"
"I'll, uh. I'll go get him," I said. I quickly walked into the living room.
"Does he remember? Does he hate me?" Calum asked.
"He wants to talk to you..." I said. He took a deep breath and stood up.
"Okay... I'll go talk to him." He sighed and walked off. I sat on the couch next to Thomas. He intertwined our fingers and smiled at me with dull eyes. Our lives were seriously falling apart. No one was saying anything at all. The only sounds were coming from the back room, only muffled voices. I let out a deep shakey breath and glanced over at Will who seemed to be signalling something out the window. I didn't trust him, at all.
"I.. I have to do something," I said, standing up and walking towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Thomas asked, jumping up and running over.
"Just trust me, I'll be back soon..."
"Cait, I don't want you to go out alone... what if..." he let out a shakey breath. "If that was you I wouldn't know what to do with myself. I can't lose you."
"You're not going to lose me. I promise you. I just really have to do this." I grabbed my coat and the gun Calum brought in, shoving it in the back of my pants.
"You have an hour. If you're not back by then I wil rip this city apart trying to find you..." I smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
"I'll be back in 2 hours." Before he could aegue I slipped out of the apartment and headed down the steps. I left the building and started walking down the road. I kept walking until I came up on a crowd. A bunch of people were standing behind police tape, watching what was going on. I pushed through and saw the medics zipping up a boy bag. It was Cayla.
"What do you suppose happened?" The man standing next to me asked.
"I don't know..." I lied, looking back over as the put her into the ambulance. I felt tears welling up in my eyes.
"It's awful... she looks so young... probably a suicide. Kids these days, you know? I'm Benedict by the way," he said, holding his hand out for me to shake.
"Caitlyn," I replied, looking over. I froze when I saw who was standing on the other side of the crowd. It was Nick. He looked over at me and smirked, motionong for me to join him. "Uhm.. excuse me..." I said, pushing passed Benedict and moving towards Nick as he walked over to a car. I got out of the crowd and went over to him.
"Caity, so nice to see you. Sorry to hear about your colleague," he smirked.
"You killed my friend..." I said, shaking.
"I didn't kill her."
"Then who the hell did?"
"I can't tell you that. But it's all going to beckme very clear for you all. Very soon." He smiled.
"Why would you kill her? And why would you shoot Luke?"
"Why don't we talk about it? We can talk about it for as long as you'd like..." he opened the door to the car and gestured for me to get in.
"If you think I'm getting in a car with you, you have another thing coming to you."
"Oh Caity, sweetie. That's cute. You think you have a choice... we have a lot to talk about and such little time to talk about it. So get in the car, please? I'm not going to force you, and I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to talk." He just flashed another smirk. "Come on Caity."
"Don't call me Caity..." I said, getting into the car. He hopped in behind me and closed the door, putting his arm around my shoulder. I looked in the front seat and saw Kaya in the driver's seat.
"This is fun, isn't it. Just like old times. You and I, together." He slid the divider window closed so Kaya couldn't listen in. "The truth is Caity... I miss you. I want you back," he brushed a peice of hair out if my face. "That deal I offered you all those years ago, when you found out about this life of mine, it still stands. You and I can run Depths Interprises, together. You can have anything you want, whenever you want it, and it will be just you and me again.. no matter how much you try to deny it, you did love me once. And I loved you. I still love you." He looked me deep in the eyes. "I didn't mean to really fall in love with you, it just... it happened, and I want to be with you..." suddenly he leaned in and connected his lips to mine. When we were first dating, I had felt fireworks in my chest, but now, I felt absolutely nothing. I reached behind me and pulled the gun, putting it to the bottom of his chin.
"You're a liar and a cheat!" I said, pulling away. "I thought I loved you once, but now I know the truth. I hate you. I will always hate you. I love Thomasn not you. I will never love you." He smirked slightly and gave out a soft chuckle.
"You always had a fire inside. What are you going to do? Kill me? End all of this. Live your life nice and free?" I cocked the gun, still pointing it up at his head. "I know you have it in you, after all, you did murder my uncle."
"Pull the car over. Now." He smirked and knocked on the window. I felt the car stop.
"The offer still stands," Nick said, opening the car door as I kept the barrel of the gun focused on him. "Have a nice night. Send Tommy my love." I got out of the car, still pointing my weapon at him. He closed the door and they sped away. I was all the way on the other side of London now... I took the clip out of the gun before throwing it into the river next to me. The only shred of evidence that ties Calum to Cayla's murder. I sighed and started walking towards the apartment, so many thoughts running through my head.
