Beady eyes, dropped jaws,
Fear emanates from the humans.
"Shit" how could I not notice.
"Don't be too hard on yourself"
Mark says.

"It's not a dragon's nature to be mindful of mice." Claps my shoulder.
"What are we going to do about this?"

"That's simple, mice no matter how weak must be dealt with."
Before I can ask, the air shimmers around Mark.

I am thrust into the air,
Between huge claws.
Long, serpentine, dragon with emerald scales,
It's gaze on the ship, a red glow from it's eye sockets.

50 inch, thick, wood colour horns protrude out the back of it's skull.
HUMANS MUST NEVER LEARN OF OUR EXISTENCE.
Marks voice sounds in my head, telepathy?

Mark opens his maw flashing rows of deadly teeth the size of my arm, maybe larger.
"What are you-" a roar liken to thunder cuts me off.

A powerful bolt of lightning strikes the ship,
My heart trembles, the ship lost in the bolt.

THIS IS OUR WAY HARU,
Mark barrels leaving the ship behind.
Tucked in his claw I watch the ship dwindle to nothing.
