“The mere thought of Alex in a restaurant terrifies me.” I answered, still chuckling. “I don’t think that girl knows anything about acting like an adult.”

“I resent that, young lady!” I spun around in the bar stool to find Alex staring at me. “Now, where are we going for lunch? I’m starving, Gagey Boy. Get to cooking.” Gage glared at her.

“Why do you DO that?” He whined. I couldn’t help but laugh. Alex only does it because Gage gives such an amusing fight.

Alex shrugged. “For shits and giggles.” She smiled. Gage’s eyes narrowed. “Now listen here, you little shit.” He said, a mock gangster accent flowing thickly. Alex busted out laughing.

“YOU? Tough? Yeah, about as tough as my left pinky toe feels after I slam it on something.” He glared at her.

“So much hostility today…” Jesse mumbled, rubbing his temples. “Can we just leave already?” Gage looked over at him.

“Yeah! Let’s go.” He smiled and grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the door. “Hey Alex, don’t forget the bags by the door!” He yelled over his shoulder. She groaned, and lifted them. “Jesus Christ, Gage! What do you have in here, bodies?!” She screamed, heaving the bags out the door.

“Bones encased in cement, if you must know.” I stifled some laughter. Jesse sighed and took the bags from a collapsed Alex.

“AWWWWW! You two should date!” Luke yelled at the two of them. Alex looked at Jesse, who looked right back at her. The both looked disgusted.

“You don’t date family!” they both yelled at once.

“Nasty!” Alex spat.

“Oh thanks, that makes me feel wonderful, Lex.” Jesse retorted.

“Oh, no. Not you, Jesse. You’re a brother dude. That’d be way too fuckin weird.” He nodded in agreement.

After getting the last few bags loaded, everyone loaded up into the van. Alex got shotgun as usual, and I was crammed in the back between Jesse and Lucas, while Gage drove. We pulled down the street in silence.

“Guys, lighten up! This is exciting!” Alex claimed from the front. “Gage, can we stop and get McDonalds?” She asked like a little kid.

“Yeah, I had already planned on it.” He smiled at her. I put in my headphones and pressed play, zoning the rest of the band out.
