Jack's POV
"So you actually did it," Molly says with a big smile.

"Yeah, but we're still just friends. Which I'm okay with."

"You may say that, but your face says something different."
She gives me a hand to help me up onto my feet. We walk to the room to start our group guy girl class. Which is really weird since it's mostly girls and their boyfriends. Thank god Molly and I got paired our freshman year. That way I don't have to get a new partner every fucking year. If I did it would be very difficult.
"I'm sure you two will at least have one date before you graduate."

"I hope so," saying taking her hand just like everyone else has done with their partners.
We each waltz around in our imaginary boxes. The teacher comes around fixing our arms and such. I hate it when they interrupt our conversations while dancing. It's the most annoying thing that they could do. Partner dancing is meant for you to talk and get to know people.
"So you just pretend that you didn't do that?"

"Well-"

"Jack and Molly keep your arms in the correct position."
I groan quietly fixing my arms. We then continue our conversation until we move onto the next thing. Molly is the greatest when it comes to all of this romantic stuff. She is literally the best person to go to for this shit. Since she knows what she's talking about. I at least think she does.
***next day***

I grab my backpack and head out the door to Mark's house. Ever since Mark got that car it has made my life so much easier. That way no having to get up as early or having to wait for the buses to pull out. I hop into the passenger side while Mark texts on his phone.
"Ready," Mark asks putting his phone in the cup holder.

"To leave yes, but for school hell to the no."
Mark laughs and pulls out heading to school. The same cassette tape plays. It's actually kind of grown on me. Mark taps to the beat of the music as he drives. I sit humming to myself in content. Ten minutes later and Mark is parking in the student parking lot. We get out and walk through the gates of Hell. Nothing says good morning like some mathematics with Satan.
I go to my locker and open it shoving my stuff inside. Along with grabbing the stuff I need for class. As soon as my hand goes into my backpack my locker gets slammed shut. I look to where he hand came from which is none other than Lucas. My eyes roll and shove his hand away from his locker.
"So you have a thing for my boyfriend I hear," he says.

"So? You don't even like him. What does it matter to you?"

"I love his attention and when I don't get it I have to go to other sources."

"Wait don't tell m-"

"Yes, I may or may not have been making out with Kathy after school."

"You piece of shit when I tell M-" He presses his finger to my lips to silence me.

"You aren't saying anything to him. As long as you stay away from him then we won't have any problems."

"What do you mean by problems?"

"I won't cheat on him and you won't get the shit kicked out of you. Deal?"
I nod and he shoves me to the lockers and walks to his class. I know in my mind that I need to tell Mark and I won't right now. However I never said deal so I can still be around him.

I get in the passenger seat of Mark's car as he gets in the driver's side. A smile is on his face and mine is just full of worry. Sure I don't Lucas to cheat on him anymore, but not talking to him will hurt him just as bad. I mean from what I did a couple days ago I can just tell it wouldn't go well.
The same spice girls tape is still playing. Does this ever end? Mark looks at me for a second confused. I just continue to stare out the window.
"What's with the silence? Did something? Do I need to kick someone's ass?"

"No, but thanks. Just don't have a lot to say at the moment."

"You always have something to say. Seriously what's up?"

"Do you promise that if Lucas does anything to you to hurt you or make you cry you'll break things off right?"

"Is this what this is all about?"

"Do you promise?"

"Yes, I promise," He says and I bring my pinky to his face. Mark looks at it with confusion.

"Promise on your gaddamn pinky."
Mark smiles slightly at my lanky pinky and links his free hand's punky with mine. I then untwine mine from his and start to hum along to the song that never ends.
We pull into his driveway and I get out of the car. He pulls out his phone and curses to himself.
"What?"

"Lucas called me. I'll see you tomorrow or later depending on how I'm feeling. I gotta call him back," He seemed in a big hurry to call him back.
I give a worried look and walk to my house slowly. Nobody us home so looks like I'll be making dinner. It'll give me a reason not do my homework. So I'll definitely do this. Once I pull out the stuff for my food I put on some music and begin preparing the meal.

Mark's POV
I groan and hung up on Lucas. He's so over protective and wants to spend every waking moment with me. It's not like I don't want to be around him, but goddamn he is possessive. I turn off my phone not wanting to talk to him anymore at all. My body collapses onto the sofa and I massage my temples. Sometimes he such a pain in the ass.
I open my eyes and across the way I see my green haired neighbor singing into a wooden spoon in the living room. A smile appears on lips. He's such a fucking cutie. Mark what are you saying you have a boyfriend. Your best friend is not allowed to be attractive to you at the moment. Of course it doesn't hurt to stare. The smile on my face becomes wider as he sings along into the utensil. However he then leaves mid song and goes back over to his kitchen.

Remember Mark you have a boyfriend and he's the one you worked really hard to get. Don't screw this up.
