Mistakes Just Prepare Us Not Wound Us

We all make mistakes in life, but that does not mean it is the end of our journey. When we make a mistake it sometimes make us feel less of a person or embarrassed. For example: during my first day at a new High School, the Spanish teacher asked a question and chose me to respond. I answered incorrectly and the students laughed and teased me. This was my experience and we each have our experiences. How does it affect us? Well, it did affect me in a negative way because since then I promised myself that I would never raise my hand to answer a question in any class ever again even if a teacher selected me.

I felt like that mistake wounded me, but actually, it was not a mistake it was an opportunity to prepare me for future questions. Some may be asking how that moment prepared me. Well, it did teach me that in life you are going to do and say things incorrectly, but it is not the end of the world it is just an opportunity to learn how to do or say it the correct way so you won't make that mishap again. That's not all, ever since that moment, I have been reading ahead for the next day's studies doing assignments and reviewing the day's work this allowed me to be prepared for any questions pertaining to the lesson and assignments.

Have you ever done something really, really bad that when people see you they remember you for what you did? I know this feeling I have been through it many times. What is the best way to get over this feeling? What I do really helps, so I will suggest it to you. When a situation like that occurs the first thing to do is to recognize the fact that you have already done it and there is nothing that you can do to change it.

It's now a part of your past. Then let go of the people who are unwilling to see you for you rather than your  mistakes.

Lastly forgive yourself and don't punish yourself. Regardless of what your experience may have been don't ignore it, embrace it and be cautious not to make the same mistake in the future.
Forgive yourself as often as you need to and laugh at yourself if you must, but don't keep beating yourself up it's not necessary. Most importantly know the difference between mistakes and accidents. Even when we prepare sometimes we still mess up badly and that's okay. In life the only way to be great at anything is to keep going. Anything worth being good at is worth sucking at first. So don't shy away from opportunities whether to deliver a speech, sing a song in front of your crush or whatever; simply because you're afraid of messing up. Understand that messing up is apart of the process. Every expert was once a beginner. Don't be too hard on yourself just get up and try again. Its not the end of the world and as long as you have breath there is hope. Lean on Jesus and let him be your guide and friend.

Remember, allow your mistakes to prepare you. Do not let them cripple you! Its a choice!
