Prayer in distress

Do you ever realize when we are enjoying ice-cream or something amazing we don't seem to have God as close as we should but; when we find ourself in a pit among lions and there is nothing else left that man can do to help us, we decide to cry out to God for help?

Why do we ask God for help? Let us look at 1st chronicles 16:11
"seek the lord and his strength seek his face continually."
We ask God for help because we recognize that we need his help whether we admit it or not. As the scripture says we should seek his strength when we are weak and seek his help when we are in need. Why do you call out to God in your moment of distress?

Is it because he is the last on your list that can help you? Or because you know he is a great God and he will help you? If it is because your ultimate confidence is in him and you know he is a good God who is capable more than any human help. Then you are asking for the right reason, if it is because he is the last on your list you are asking for the wrong reason and you need to pray that God will help you to put him first. God is a present help in our times of distress and trouble.

Distress, this is when we beg for God to give an open ear to our supplications. At this moment we are desperate for help.

Look at psalms 55:5
"fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me."
When we are afraid and we know there is nothing else we can do, we turn our distress filled heart and cry out God. We know at this time we cannot do it alone that we need special help and we know that it is more than just special it is supernatural.

If you are not calling on God in your distressing moments you need to train to do it. Sometimes in our moments of distress we think we can manage it alone, and sometimes in the overwhelming pain we crumble into depression, frustration and anxiety. Even Jesus was not alone and often needed his disciples for comfort and encouragement while on earth as a man.

When we acknowledge everyone is busy we call on God, but God is never busy and he bears your burdens, your problems, your future, your needs, and spiritual progress. Yet he is never the first one we call one instead we call all our friends, family and peers until we realize they can't help us the way we want to and only God can. You see God is always there for us he will never give up on us. The population of one country is more than we can count in a day and God looks after EVERYONE'S needs and problems, every second of your life and my life he is there he is even watching you read at this very moment because he is omnipresent. Therefore let us put our faith in him in the good times and the bad times let him be the first one we go to for help. Prayer in distress brings us closer to God. If your happy right now pray to him, thank him for that happiness, if your sad and depressed pray to him and ask him for joy.

In your good and bad times praise God praise him for he is worthy to be praised. Pray!!! Pray!!! Pray!!!
