Fawn's POV

I walked along the netherrack in the Nether, and grinned as I spotted another blaze in a crevice of glowstone near the top of a cliff. It scattered away and moaned in the process, making a noise that could be heard all around the Nether.

"Found another one!" I yelled. "Which means seven for me, four for Cara and Daisy, three for Kai, and negative one for Sparrow!"

"What?!" Sparrow exclaimed. "That ghast looked a lot like a blaze from a distance!"

"When blazes swim." Kai muttered. "Ghasts are white, blazes are orange-red, and have rods swirling around them."

"Sor-ry." Sparrow said sarcastically.

I let the others talk while I sidled up next to Angel. I could still see scratches covering his body, some only minor, while others still trickled white blood. A nasty gash could be seen on one of Angel's forelegs, and I could tell it pained him to walk whatsoever.

"So, what about you?" I asked.

"Huh?" Angel said, puzzled by my sudden words.

"I mean family." I replied. "Do you have any?"

Angel stared at me while we proceeded down the path. He glanced at me for a quick second, then looked toward the ground as we continued in silence.

"They are, passed on?" I asked, careful not to use the wrong words.

"Yes," Angel said. "Should I tell you how my careless mistake killed them?"

Without waiting for a response, Angel burst into his story.

It was just a normal day, my brothers tousling each other while my sister watched them, her eyes calculating each move they made and checking if she was right. My father and mother were hunting outside, and we were supposed to wait inside the cave. But that day, I didn't want to stay in the cave, be the obedient dragon my parents thought of me as.

I turned to fly out of the cave when my sister, Dreamcatcher stopped me in my tracks.

She looked a lot more like mom, a sleek blue dragon with purple segments with golden diamonds going down her neck. Two spiraled horn curved upward and she had a long snout, a curved crescent right underneath her right eye.

"Hey, where are you going?" she said.

"Uh, a quick flyby?" I questioned. "Is there anything wrong with that?"

"Uh, YES?!" Dreamcatcher exclaimed, gesturing to the Greenlands "What has Dad, and Mum told us."

"Don't go outside unless we tell you to." we both chanted together.

"I supposed we could go for a flyby quickly." Dreamcatcher murmured. "But only for a couple of minutes."

"Okay," Angel said. "I heard Mom and Dad is bringing home some cooked cow; my favorite."

Together, the two dragons soared outside into the Greenlands.

Angel had never been into the Greenlands before; only once at night, but it was that night there was no moon, making it too dark to see anything. It was amazing, green stuff that Dad told me was grass, and I could see a couple of humans walking on the ground. I never knew they were that small, seems so unlikely they would kill one of our kind.

"You like this?" a voice said, interrupting my thoughts. Dreamcatcher soared through the air, doing spirals and snorting puffs of steam out of her nose.

"Yeah!" I yelled, my feather ruffling in the wind. "How come Dad and Mum never let us out?"

Dreamcatcher sighed, "Only the bravest survive in the Grasslands; guess they thought you weren't ready yet."

"Oh." I said dejectedly. "Hey, isn't that Dad and Mum?"

Dad was swooping around a herd of cows, who were mooing loudly in fright. Mom was diving into the herd, picking off the cows toward the center. She quickly finished them off and had blood around her lips.

Just then, a loud bang rang out in the forest. Mom; who looked suprised. Dreamcatcher; who gasped in shock. Myself; who didn't understand what was going on, and Dad; who seemed.... Lifeless.

I watched silently as Dad's body fell toward the ground, making the ground jerk with the sudden weight. A group of humans, one holding a weapon triumphantly looked at Dad and aimed at Mom's head.

"Run Dream, run Angel!" Mom shrieked, clawing at the humans, two which fell to the ground, blood pooling at their feet, while the other two pulled out assorted weapons.

"No!" Dreamcatcher yelled, diving toward the ground. "Run while you still can Angel!"

And with that, I spiraled back toward the present time.
