Fawn's POV

"Hey you guys!" I chuckled nervously at the Wither Skeletons. "Remember me?"

"You think that's her?" one asked hesitantly, gesturing to me. "I don't think Hero said anything about an escort."

"You dimwit, Master said that it's fine if Fawn come's with an escort!" the other shouted.

"Err, we're listening to you!" Steve reminded the two brothers.

Their mouths gaped opened as they stared Steve down, who fiddled with a wool block he'd found in the Overworld. They blinked once, then twice, and one skeleton picked up a phone and was busy dialing Herobrine while the other examined Steve with a furtive glance.

"A-a-are you Steve?"  the skeleton stuttered, gripping his sword tightly.

"That's what my friends call me!" Steve answered, winking at the younger skeleton, who fainted on queue. "Guess I have that effect on people, or in this case skeletons."

"Hey, Herobrine's on the phone." the other skeleton said, handing the silver object to me.

"Fawn, is that you?" Herobrine said excitedly on the phone. "Is it, is it!?!?"

"Come on Dad, it's me." I answered. "Steve's with me."

I heard Hero's voice stiffen as he said his next few words. "Well, that's....nice." he said stiffly. "Where are you?"

"We're fine; and we're at the portal for your information."  I said. "You got the potion?"

"Sure thing!" a voice answered at the end of the line. I knew that voice; it was Vortex. "And you've got the scepter?"

"Well, yes." I said, glancing back at David and Steve, who were bouncing impatiently.

"That was faster than I thought." Vortex said quickly. "We'll be right over."

I handed the phone back to the skeleton, who nodded once in my direction, and rushed to his brother, who was still lying on the ground.

"Well, what did he say?" David asked.

"He said, 'I'm here'." a voice behind me said, and I saw that Herobrine and Vortex were behind me.

Vortex was holding the milky green potion that had started me on this quest, and Herobrine looked down at me, proudly. He was wearing diamond armor, and was holding his enchanted sword by his side.

"I present your powers to you, queen." Herobrine murmured, handing me the potion.

I drank the potion, feeling the tingles of power flow back into me. And for once, I felt.

Alive.
