I have been trying to get a job at headquarters for a while now. That is where they control everything. Every death. Every life. I keep my true motives hidden whenever I am interviewed for a job there. I want that place to burn to the ground. They never except me though. I am just not alien enough.

I guess that's why I was so surprised when a tall stranger greeted me at the door informing me I had been excepted. "At headquarters?" I asked blankly. He looked into my house, acting like he was searching for something. "Is there anyone in the house besides from you?" He asks. "No" I say. "No, you were not excepted at headquarters. Well, at least not the one you are thinking of."

Puzzled, I try to ask him what other headquarters there is. He ignores me and tells me to trust him. Typical. I don't think he is an alien, but I also don't think trusting anyone, let alone a complete stranger, is ever a good idea.

He wants me to come with him to this mystery headquarters. The truth is, I don't want to leave my sister. She has no clue who I am, but I know who she is. I know her name is Paige, and her birthday is September forth. I know she is turning five this year. And I don't know if anyone is safe with these aliens around.

I want to always be near Paige so I can protect her. I know, I know. I am kind of stalking my younger sister who doesn't even know I exist. Sad, right?

On the other hand, maybe this stranger can help me. I won't trust him, He will remain simply a stranger. I think I will go with him though. If it is a trap, I can run. I am fast, and have good aim. Those years of cross country and bb guns might serve some purpose after all.

I can imagine my mothers' face. Pure gold. She never thought those skills were at all useful. My fake mother, the one the aliens chose for me, would be surprised as well. She thinks I am close to a high school aged hermit. Well, if high school still existed, at least.

"Let's go, Amanda, or are you going to just stand there forever?" he says, bringing my thoughts back to present day. He knows my name. "How- what- but " I say, obviously flustered. "Relax" he says. " My name is Adrian, so now you know just as much about me as I do of you." His eyes are purple. A strange color for a human, but even more so for one of them.

Before I can ask anything about him, he takes my hand and leads me away from my doorstep. "Where are we going?" I ask him. He doesn't answer. He leads me to his car. I get in, and ask him again. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.
