Forgotten

The scream is definitely from Paige. I open the door terrified at what I might find. What I see shocks me. It is Jake. He has the bullet hole in his head and it is still bleeding. I saw his dead body. How is he here? Jake slowly turns his head, just his head, not his neck, and looks at me with an evil grin. The blood is running down his face and into his eyes and mouth. "Do you want to meet your daddy, little girl?" He threatens.

Everything from then on seemed to happen in slow motion. I ran to Paige, who luckily was not physically hurt yet. I was fast but Jake was faster. He didn't have a weapon, but I doubted he would need one. He grabbed Paige by the arm. I grabbed her other arm, but it slipped through my fingers. I catch her eye, just those few seconds feel like a lifetime worth of regret. Jake vanished out of thin air. Paige with him.

My one real family member who remembers me, gone. I can feel tears running down my cheeks. She isn't dead, yet. Maybe I can save her? Probably not. She won't survive long with that thing. She is my baby sister. I can't let her die. I didn't get to say good bye. I might never see her adorable sweet face again. If I find her, if I am able to save her, I won't let her go. Ever.

I look at Charity, who is frozen in fear. Why didn't he take her instead? Why Paige?

I am so deep in my tragic thoughts that I barley notice Cara walking up to me and hugging me. Soon I am in a warm embrace, but all I can feel inside is ice cold. If Cara saw this happen, why didn't she do anything to prevent, oh I don't know, my sister being kidnapped maybe?! And what about Adrian, who has great aim and had a freaking GUN in his hands? Why didn't he shoot Jake again? It might not have stopped him, but it would have slowed him down.

I am furious and distraught at the same time. Cara says something to me, but i 'm not listening. My mind is going a million miles an hour, trying to figure out how and why everything just happened. Jake is alive. Could aliens be immune to weak human weapons? He took Paige even though Charity was closer to him. Why? It could be to lure me into a trap. Why would he do that? I am not special. This place is packed full if people who remember their past lives. Why me?
