Chapter 23 - The Day Before The Wedding

THE DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING

Our house was manic. There was stuff everywhere. The phone just didn't stop ringing. I was rushing around, sorting out bits here and there, I hadn't stopped all day! I had no idea where Alex was, hopefully he was picking up the suits with his best man Jack. I was just about to go pick up the cake when Katie, Hayley and my sister Scarlett burst through the front door. 

"Evie!" They shouted, chucking down their bags and bundling me into a hug. 

"Hey guys!" I replied when they finally let me go. 

"How are you?" Kat asked.

"Im okay, just really busy. Your dresses are upstairs and I've just got to go pick up the cake and then-" I was cut off by the phone. I ran over to it and answered it. "Hello?"

"Hello Evie! Were a little bit lost, where is the hotel?" My Auntie said through the phone. 

"I umm- can you call my Mum please and ask her because I'm really busy right now." I said quickly, already 20 minutes late picking up the cake. 

"Ok, yeah sure. See you later!" And with that my Auntie hung up. 

I put the phone down. "Bye guys I'll be back in half an hour." I said grabbing my keys and bag. 

"No you wont. I'll go pick up the cake and you can sit down for a minute." Scarlett said before exiting the house leaving no time for me to argue. I sat down on the sofa and took a deep breath. When people say weddings are stressful they sure are right!

2 hours later, Alex and I were heading to a hotel, in which our families were staying at, for dinner. I was wearing a navy dress that flowed to my knees and a pair of black heels. Once at the hotel we headed to the restaurant part where our families were waiting for us. 

"Look who's made an appearance." Alex's brother James announced getting up off his chair to greet us.

"Fashionably late!" I grinned, knowing we were about 20 minutes late, hugging James.

"It's good to see you Evie." James said. James and I got along really well, it was like he was my own brother but I hardly ever got to see him.

"You too James."

Alex and I greeted our parents, siblings, aunties and uncles, grandparents, bridesmaids and the best man before sitting down next to eachother, James and Scarlett either side of us. 

"So are you too exited for tomorrow?" My Auntie asked.

"Yeah definately." I lied.

"It's going to be a magical day!" Alex's Grandma said, rather exited by the whole ordeal.

Everyone chatted for a while untill the waitor came over to take our orders. After that I zoned out of the conversation. You see, I wasn't that exited for the wedding. Sure, when Alex asked me to marry him I was estatic but that estaticness had just faded away. Maybe it was because I met Dougie, maybe it was because I realized how protective Alex is of me, maybe it was just me! All I know is that I'm not 100% sure if I want to marry Alex tomorrow. Wait, what am I saying! Of course I want to marry him, that's why I said yes wasn't it? Well.. he is quite controlling but then again­-

"Evie? Are you okay?" Alex asked, looking concerned.

"Yeah, im fine." I replied quickly.

"You sure?" 

"Yeah!"

"As long as your okay." He said, turning back to talk to my mum.

Anyway as I was saying, he is quite controlling but then occasionaly he turns out really loving and caring, like just then for example. Ughh what do I do!

"Dad can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked my Dad after everyone had headed back to their hotel rooms after dinner.

"Yeah sure."

We walked out into the hotel garden and found a quiet spot. "Dad, my uh friend, my friend has this dilema." I said, hoping he wouldn't realize that my 'friend' was actually me.

"Yeah..."

"Well she thinks she loves 2 people and she doesn't know what to do."

"Right okay. Well I don't know alot about this sort of thing but that famous actor, oh what's his name? He was in pirates of the caribbean."

"Johny Depp?" 

"Yeah him. Well he said, if I can remember rightly, 'If you love two people at the same time, choose the second one, because if you really loved the first one you wouldn't have fallen for the second.' I know it's not much but it's the best I can do to help your friend." He said, emphasizing the word friend, as he knew that the supposed friend was actually me.

"Thanks Dad."

We headed back to the lobby where Alex and Jack were waiting to say goodbye to me before they headed back to their hotel room for the night. Katie, Hayley and Scarlett were also waiting to come back to the house with me. I said goobye to my Dad first and then Jack before Alex.

"Next time I see you, you'll be walking down the isle about to become my wife." Alex said as he wrapped his arms around my waist. 

"Yes, but until then you'll have to wait." I replied, wrapping my arms around his neck. He pressed his lips to mine and we kissed for a few seconds until Kat coughed reminding us we had company. 

"See you tomorrow then babe." Alex said walking towards the lifts. 

"Bye!"

DOUGIE'S POV

I quickly packed up my stuff and shoved it in the boot of the car. I climbed into the drivers seat and set off for London. What I was gonna do when I got there, I had no idea. All I knew is that I had to tell Evie how I felt about her before it was too late.
