2 WEEKS TILL THE WEDDING
It was around 6pm and Alex was just leaving for the airport.
"I'll see you next week." Alex said opening the door, suitcase in hand.
"Ok, bye." I replied kissing him on the lips before waving him off.
I made myself a cup of tea and sat down on the sofa with my laptop. I checked my emails and sifted through them. There were loads about the wedding from suppliers and family. I emailed back family answering any questions they had. I then read through all the ones from suppliers. There were emails from the DJ, the flower lady, the cake lady, the photographer, suit company and many others. I replied to them all which took around an hour.
I was shocked by the amount of planning that had to go into the wedding. It was no where near as easy as I'd expected. Alex didn't help as much as I would've liked him to but that was no suprise. Overall all this planning was quite stressful.
I went on twitter and tweeted Wedding planning is so stressful! Need a break!
I ran a bath, with bubbles and a bath bomb, undressed and climbed. I grabbed a book of the side and began to relax. Ahh this was nice. After 30 minutes I put the book down and climed out of the bath and wrapping myself in a towell. Once dry I put my clothes back on and dryed my hair with my hairdryer.
I was just about to make another cup of tea when there was a knock at the door. Who could that be? Maybe Alex forgot something. I opened the door to see Dougie standing on the step.
"Oh hello! What are you doing here?" I asked
"I saw your tweet and thought I'd bring you some chocolates and maybe we could watch a film or something." He said.
"Aww thank you! Come in." I let him come in then closed the door behind him. I took his coat and hung it up. "What film do you want to watch?" I asked
"I don't mind. What do you want to watch?"
"Well I recently added the latest muppet movie to my collection..." I hinted
"Let's watch that then!" Dougie said putting the chocolates down on the coffee table. I put The Muppets into the DVD player and pressed play, then went and sat down on the sofa next to Dougie.
DOUGIE'S POV
She spent the majority of the film singing along to the songs, which she suprisingly knew all the words to. When the film finished Evie put The Muppets Treasure Island on. To be honest I was beginning to get Muppeted out but she looked so cute when she sang so I didn't say anything. Near the end of the film she rested her head in my lap as her eyelids began to close. I stroked her hair slowly as she drifted into a deep sleep. I smiled to myself as her chest rose up and down with each breath. She looked so innocent when she was sleeping.
Suddenly the door opened and Tom walked in.
"Dougie? What are you doing here?" He asked
"I could ask you the same thing." I replied
"I just came to drop off Gi's new book."
"Oh, I uhh came to watch a film." I said struggling for an answer.
"Right....."
"How did you get in?"
"Door was unlocked."
We stood in silence for a minute before Tom broke it and said "Is there anything you want to tell me?" I assumed this was because he noticed Evie was asleep with her head in my lap and maybe because of that time he, Harry and Danny walked in after the 'moment'.
"Ummm no...." He can not know my feelings for Evie.
"You sure?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow. Ok so maybe I could tell him... I mean he is my best friend.
"Well there is something. But I can't say it here."
"Ok, do you want to come back to mine?"
"Yeah ok." I slowly stood up and tucked a pillow under Evie's head. Then wrapped a blanket around her. I found some paper and a pen a quickly scribbled a note about having to go and Tom dropped off Gi's book (which I positioned under the note). I pulled on my shoes and we left the house locking it behind us with a key we found on the side and posting it back through the letter box.
I got in my car and followed Tom back to his house.
"Hello Dougie!" Gi said as we entered Tom's house.
"Hello Gi!"
"Dougie just wants to tell me something, we wont be long." Tom said leading me into the lounge. I settled down on the sofa and Gi went upstairs, presumably to bed.
"So spill." Tom said sitting down on the sofa opposite me.
"Well....umm... basically..." What are you doing? This is Tom for gods sake. "Well basically I didn't see it at first but the other night it all became clear."
"What became clear?"
"I think I'm falling for Evie."
"Are you sure mate because she's engaged?" Tom said surprisingly not shocked.
"Yeah i'm sure. I've never met someone like her. I know no-ones perfect but hell she's as perfect as they come. Tom, I literally can't stop thinking about her. I've never felt this way about anyone before. She's beautiful, she's funny, it's just..."
"Just what?"
"Like you said she's engaged. She's getting married in 2 weeks. I really, really like her and I can't let her slip through my fingers, I'll never find anyone like her again. But what can I do. She's happy with Alex, well atleast I think she is, and I don't to ruin their relationship. What do I do Tom?"
"I uh. I don't know Dougie. I did everything I could to get Gi so I know what it's like. But Alex." He sighed. "Well I know I certainly wouldn't want to mess with Alex. I don't know Doug. Maybe you should just think about it for a while." Tom suggested
"Yeah, I could go away for a bit, clear my head. I know, I'll go to that cottage we go on our writing trips too."
"Yeah good idea."
"I'll tell the others your going away for a bit." Tom said through my car window.
"Ok, I'll see you soon then." I said starting the car. "Oh and Tom."
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
"No problem Doug, see ya soon."
