I woke up in the hospital around six AM Wednesday morning. My head hurt like hell every time i moved for the first hour i was awake. My stomach ached and my throat felt raw as if i had been throwing up. My phone and my laptop had been brought to my bedside. Whoever brought them had also brought a change of clothes. Rather than get up only to be sent back my room by a nurse who found me wandering the halls, i pressed the button on my bed a few times and then waited. I hadn't had an oxygen mask this time but i did have IV tubes stuck in my arm and a heart monitor. A very pretty, friendly looking nurse walked in. Not the same one from last time. "Why am i back here?" I asked and sat up as soon as she walked in. "Your mother said you collapsed immediately after arriving home yesterday. Your pain was so great you could hardly move and never mind speaking. She told me you passed out soon after she phoned the ambulance." The nurse explained and began checking my vitals. I frowned. "When can i leave?" I asked. "When we get a steady heart rate. I'm going to bring you breakfast and see if that helps. Your father will come get you when you are discharged." She said with a certain air of superiority to her voice as she walked out of my room. I whacked my hand against the bedside table a few times, causing it to roll closer so i could reach my phone. I picked it up and texted my dad. Will Thea still be able to come over after I am discharged? I asked. If she is comfortable with you needing to rest a lot of the time, yes. He replied a few minutes later. Okay, thanks. I texted him back. Next, i texted Thea. Hey, i er... I'm in the hospital. I'm due to be discharged and home before you'll be getting to my house but i'll need to take it easy. Does that affect your wanting to come over? The nurse came back with my breakfast before Thea replied. "Thank you." I said quietly and looked down at the tray she'd set on my lap. there was a bagel with choices of cream cheese or butter, a glass of orange juice, scrambled eggs and two small slices of bacon. I noticed that the nurse did not leave until i had finished all of it. Protocol probably. "Are you feeling any better?" She asked and grabbed my tray not seconds after i set my utensils down. "Yes." I nodded slowly. The phantom pains were slowly fading though i knew that was no fault of my breakfast. Hospital food tasted even worse than school lunches. "I'll be back in about an hour to check on you before you are discharged." She told me before leaving quickly and shutting the door. 'Good.' I thought. I couldn't wait to go home. When i checked my phone, i saw that Thea had texted me. Yes, that's fine with me. I'll be tired from babysitting anyway. Are you alright? What happened?  It made me feel happy inside to know Thea worried about me. I started feeling phantom pains last night after getting back from the inquirer. My throat burned all the way down to my stomach and my vision was blotchy. If that wasn't bad enough, i felt like i'd been stabbed through the stomach with a double edged sword. My mom called an ambulance and i passed out promptly after. Proceeding to wake up here. I hoped she wouldn't think it strange, that i had been a victim of someone else's pain. Like Andrew Burrn and probably several other people who had cared not to report it. I'm so sorry, Sarah! Are you feeling any better? Has this happened before? I hated worrying my friend. I'm a lot better now. Thank you for asking :) the only pain i currently feel is definitely my own and it comes from sitting in this ungodly uncomfortable bed. And yes, less than a week ago i started feeling pains in my wrists that gradually got worse until i couldn't bear it and passed out. Waking up in the hospital. Maybe we'd be able to make some sort of connection over this. On the necklaces. That must have been terrifying for you! Do you think it's connected with the necklaces? Thea replied almost immediately. Definitely! Though i don't know who the pain could be traced back to. I wished with all my heart that i did so i could stop the cause of both our pain. Well, hopefully you'll figure it out. Hey, i have to go babysit. I'll call you before i head over to your place. I didn't bother replying to Thea seeing as she was still clearly busy.
Soon after i finished talking to her, the nurse came back and checked my vitals again before disconnecting me from all the annoying medical machinery. After changing into the clothes that had been dropped off for me, i grabbed my laptop and phone and was led down to the lobby by the nurse. My father was waiting there, signing papers. "Ready, kiddo?" He chuckled and ruffled my hair a little. I nodded slowly and frowned but said nothing. We drove back home without a word. I wasn't hungry and i didn't want to talk to anyone so i went up to my room and napped for several hours. Though i woke up in a panic because it was starting to get late. I changed into presentable clothes, did my hair and put my makeup on. No sooner had i finished that all did i get a phone call from Thea. "Hey, Sarah! How are you feeling?" Her cheery voice sounded on the other end of the line. "I'm fine. Are you still coming?" I asked. "Yep! I'm on my way now. Can you text me your address?" She asked. "Sure." I replied. Gah, this was so exciting! I hung up the call and sent her my address before running downstairs (despite the doctor's orders to take it easy) i proceeded to pace by the door until i heard a gentle knock at it.
