After a delicious supper of steak and potatoes, I went back up into the dormitory living room with Moriah and Dominic and played Harry Potter Clue.
"I think it was Ronald Weasley, with the jinxed broom, in Malfoy Manor!" I said excitedly. I picked up the little envelope in the middle of the board and opened it. 'Ha!!! I still got it!' I said to myself. Moriah and Dominic did not get it right.
"Ha!! I win!!" I said triumphantly. I had always been good at the game.
After the board game we sat on the floor in front of the fire and talked.
"I think my favorite Element class was probably transfiguration," Dominic said sounding very pleased with himself.
"I actually enjoyed making weapons! I think it's because it was the only class at this school that challenged me," I said while yawning.
"I kinda like hand techniques and how to use them!" Moriah said while halfway doing one of the movements.
"Yeah, that one was pretty fun!" I said agreeing with her.
Dominic was staring at me again. Moriah noticed him doing it.
"Are you ok,Dominic?" She asked him.
"Hmm?? What?" He asked.
"Are you ok?" She asked slower, "you're staring a hole in poor Rachael" she said. I tried to avoid looking at him when he was staring at me. It really disturbed me.
"Is there something on her?" She asked him, "speak, boy!!" She said while chuckling.
"It's her eyes..." He said.
"What about them?" She asked, "are they red?? Bloodshot?? Pink?? What's wrong with them?"
"They're so pretty!" He said with a sigh of happiness. I could feel myself turning pink.
"Yeah, I guess they are!" Moriah said trying to take the awkward out if the situation. I thanked her mentally. All I did was stare at the fire.
"Look at me," Dominic said. I swallowed hard and slowly turned my head towards him. My face felt like it was scarlet. 'No one has ever told me my eyes were pretty before!' I thought to myself 'oh, Dominic, please don't make a fool of yourself!' I screamed in my head.
I gave him a half-hearted smile and waited. He leaned in. I had absolutely no idea what to do. It looked like he was going in for a kiss! I leaned back in order to avoid what was coming. Moriah noticing what was about to happen grabbed my hand quickly.
"Come one,Rachael, time for bed!!" She said while pulling me up off of the floor and leading me by the hand into our dormitory. I felt sorry for Dominic. I did not think I was encouraging him to like me in anyway. All I did was hold his hand and hang out with him and I did hug him one time. That was only because he was sad and I was showing that I cared about his sorrows. Nothing I did would have made him like me like that!
"Thank you so much!" I said while hugging her, "I didn't want that to happen at all!!! Thank you!!"
"No problem!! I could tell you didn't want that to happen.. But I do have a question.." She said, "Are you two actually a thing? Because you hold hands and talk a whole lot... I mean, do you two just like each other with out the smooching and stuff?" She asked.
"I had no idea that he liked me! That was the first time he's ever done something like that. I don't even know him that well! We are just really good friends!" I said.
"I think he thought you were a little more than a friend..." She said laughing.
"Who thinks you are more than a friend?" Madison asked as she entered the room.
"Dominic," Moriah said, "he tried to kiss Rachael," the other girls came in the room on the words 'he tried to kiss Rachael' and they all gasped. 'Uh oh!' I thought "the words gonna get out fast with theses girls!'
I let Moriah explain what had happened to them anyway. They all looked rather disappointed when they heard I tried to avoid the kiss. They were the type of girls that liked a nice juicy story.
"Please don't tell anyone!" I said after Moriah had finished, "I don't want him feeling embarrassed about it any more than he already does now!"
"So you do care about him?" Eleanor said smirking.
"Yes.. But not like that! I like him as a friend and that is all! Nothing more!!" I said, "he is just very kind to me. And me being me, I am going to be kind back... I really was hoping he wasn't mistaking my kindness for flirting. Boys tend to do that," I said.
"Yeah... They do," Moriah said, "we should probably get to bed. It's eleven thirty!" She said while looking at her watch.
We all got up and got ready for bed.
"Good night, sleep tight, and don't let the bed bugs bite!" I called out.
"But if they do get a shoe and beat them till they're black and blue!!" Moriah said. Everyone laughed and then went to sleep.
