Rob drove to the mall because Matt was using his car to go to a radio interview. Amber had thought Matt's car was amazing until she sat in this one. Not really being a car person, all she knew was that it was blue and very expensive.
"So why did you want bodyguards Jay?" Amber asked, leaning forward from the back and resting her arms on the backs of the men's seats. It wasn't easy to do as the cream leather was slippery, trying to pull her back in her seat.
"Because he's over dramatic." Rob answered for him.
Jay scowled at him. "Because Rob has a stalker."
"Wow! Really? Like a scary one?" She asked.
"Yes!" Both of the men chimed in together.
"I didn't really expect that." Amber said more to herself than to anyone else.
"Why ever not?!" Rob feigned taking offence.
"No. I mean I know it was pretty intense the first time around... When your fan base were teenagers. But I would have thought your fans would have been well... a bit more mellow I guess." She tried to explain.
"We're not that old." Rob laughed.
"They generally are more relaxed now." Jay pitched in. "But this one hasn't let go of the old days. She's always been around but the security guys felt there was something a bit sinister about her just lately so they said Rob shouldn't go out without having some of them with him."
Amber flicked Rob's ear. "You didn't tell me that."
"Would you have come if I had?" He looked round at her with an eyebrow raised.
She thought about it. "Probably not."
He grinned. "Exactly. Anyway, I think it's her little friend who is more sinister. She never, ever says anything. Just stands behind Kelsey the whole time. That's just plain weird."
"There are two of them?" Amber asked as they pulled into a parking space.
Jay nodded. "Yeah but Kelsey is the one they are worried about."
They got out of the car and headed toward the nearest stairwell. Rob pushed himself between the couple and flung his arms around their shoulders.
"Isn't this great? A bit of freedom?" He enthused.
"I have my freedom." Jay grumbled and pushed him off.
Rob kept his arm around Amber. "Ah who asked you to come anyway. I hope you're not going to be grumpy the whole time. Amber here needs to teach you to lighten up."
Jay grabbed the arm Rob had around Amber and peeled it off of her. Then he playfully shoved him to the side. "It's about time you got yourself a girlfriend." He said dryly. "Maybe then you'd grow up."
He pushed open a door and held it for Amber to walk through. As Rob followed her, Jay let go of it. The clunk as the the door hit him made Amber laugh loudly. Jay looked at her and winked with a mischievous smirk on his face. He then walked like he was on a mission.
"So where are we headed first?" Amber asked.
"I wanna go..."
"Food." Jay interrupted Rob but he didn't seem to mind and he agreed wholeheartedly with the suggestion.
"You guys never stop eating!" Amber observed but she didn't mind really. Jay hadn't got around to making them anything to eat on the bus because Rob came back after fifteen minutes and practically carried them both to the car. He reminded her of a male version of Dessa. Always so enthusiastic about everything. She wondered if they would actually make a good couple and then she remembered the age difference and laughed to herself. She always forgot how much older Rob was because he acted like he was younger than her. She enjoyed it though. He was always fun to be around. Jay however didn't seem to enjoy Rob's antics and at that moment was threatening to stab him with a fork if he didn't stop putting extra things on Jay's tray. She was trying so hard to stifle her laughter at the two of them but when Rob quickly exchanged Jay's coffee for a glass bottle of pink lemonade, she couldn't help letting out a giggle. Jay slapped Rob around the head, swapped the drinks back and then looked at Amber, rolling his eyes. There was a slight glint in his eye though and a smirk forming. She couldn't help thinking how nice it was to be doing something normal after the night they had had.
