New Job

Chapter Two

This town is officially wacko. I'll give them a plaque one day, I swear it.

First: Town Curfews. Then I find out I'm not allowed into town without my guardians present.

Sure I can go out by myself around here, but a half hour out into this shit-hole is a town shopping centre, coffee shops, bars, etc. But I'm not allowed to go there. Go figure.

This place is the weirdest place I have ever stepped foot in. Hands down. Wait they might have a rule about that too- idiots.

“ Honey, are you ready yet? Allen's waiting for you in the car,” Kimberly yelled up the stairs.

“ Yeah, just give me a minute,” I Replied

As soon as I sat in the car, Allen was fussing. He was the one that signed me up for the stupid job in the first place. Why the hell was he fussing.

“ Are you sure you want to go? We can turn around and go right back to the house.” Allen said for about the millionth time since we started the five minute car ride.

“ Dad, chill out. You set it all up for me, and I did all that training and stuff and I still have the same curfew. Its a Park job for god sakes. You guys wanted me to make friends. So I guess this is how it's going to happen. I'm just going to be a guide, camp out a few nights with the team leaders and show ' visitors' the sites.” I said, “ not that anyone would come here willingly mind you.” I said under my breathe.

He nodded, “ You're right, you're totally right. I'm freaking out aren't I?” He asked with a laugh.

I smiled at him, “ It's okay, You're allowed.” I laughed as he pulled into Starlight Camp & wilderness guide site. It was actually pretty beautiful with the tall trees, and little wooden cabins. Where I'll be staying for the duration of the summer.

“ Okay we just got to go sign you in and get your cabin number,” He said as he pulled out the key and opened the car door.

“ Okay Jessie, Let's get you introduced to the rest of the team, shall we?” The older women said with a timid smile.

I tried to give her a smile but it probably looked more like a grimace to anyone else.

“Sure..”

“Okay everyone, This is your group for the rest of the summer, most of you already know each other from past summers, but this year we have a new addition, everyone say Hi to Jessie Rose. I expect all of you to treat her the way you would like to be treated and to help show her the ropes. Now I want you all to introduce yourself and get ready for the next group.”

Everyone mumbled there agreements then introduced themselves. Our group had nine people. Four boys and five girls including me.

“ I'm Angel Tyler, It's nice too meet you,” she said as she shook my hand with a smile. She had beautiful long blondish\brown hair that reached her waist with blazing green eyes that twinkled. Yes- I said twinkled. The girl was gorgeous.

“ Jessie Rose, nice to meet you too.” I replied.

“ That's Leslie Samuel, and Cheyanne Night.” She said motioning to two very pretty girls next to her, Leslie had beautiful long red hair and Cheyanne had gorgeous black hair.

“ Hi.” I said with a wave and a smile which they returned.

“ That girl over there Is Chloe Ruth... she's kind of a bit- she's um- she's a special case.” She said whispering. I nodded, the girl even looked mean. It was like she gave off a warning signal that just said, ' stay away.'

“ I'm Liam Johnson, I can at least introduce myself.” He said with a laugh as he put his arm around Angel. I smiled at him as another two boys walked towards me.

“ I'm Nate Gale, and He's Conner James. Nice to meet you.” I smiled at them both. They were gorgeous no doubt. But they seemed off. I don't know how to explain it. Conner for instant looked at me like he rather be anywhere else then in front of me. Nate although trying to be civil, glared at me when I turned towards Angel. Even the girls seemed uncomfortable with me here.

“ Where's the last member?” I asked Leslie while looking around.

“ He's our supervisor pretty much, He's twenty three. Where as we're all ranging 17-19. His name is Caden Hall and he's a complete fucking ass-”

“ I hope you think very thoroughly of your next few words Miss Samuels.” Caden- I'm guessing. Said with a smirk. The boy looked like he walked off a magazine He is probably the best looking guy I ever seen. With his blondish\brown hair and athletic body.

I think I was drooling.

“ He's also Leslie's ex...” Angel let it out there.

I stopped drooling, Leslie was glaring at me as Caden's smirk just widened. “Did I say something?”

“ Let me see, does, ' holy mother of sexy.' ring any bells?” Caden smirk widened even further.

Well, yes, yes it does....” No, of course not...” I mumbled

“ Okay guys, we got a group coming in, in like 20 minutes, pack light.” Caden thankfully changed the subject.

Leslie however was still glaring at me.

Way to go Jessie piss off the girls on the first day. Two cookies for you.

My luck sucked.

“ So in our group, you're all friends?”

“ Pretty much, yeah. Leslie, Conner, Chey, and Nate left for college this past year, Caden's in his 3 semester of college and Chloe, Liam and I have one more year in high school. Then we'll be heading out, too. So we asked to be put together yah know, it's been a while since we all seen each other.” Angel replied.

“ Guess everyone can't wait to get away from home.”

“ You can say that.” She mumbled.

“ So what's up with Chloe, she doesn't seem to like me very much and I haven't even spoken to her.”

“ She's just jealous, to be honest with you. She's been trying to get a spot here as a worker for years and was always turned down.. and you just moved here and gets a job no questions asked. No one gets a job here on their first try. It's like impossible. I think that's why everyone’s a little weird around you. We thought it would be just us for the summer you know? How did you do it anyways?”

“ They made me do a few tests or whatever, I'm guessing before they turn down people they do this?” I asked her

“ Yeah it's brutal. No one ever finish's it. They take the people who do the best, never one of the first years though.”

“ Well that's the reason.” I said simply.

“ What's the reason?”

“ I finished it.”
