"Kayla, there is only one way for this to work that I've figured out."
Midnight had met up with Kayla at Three, an abandoned apartment building in a southern part of Gotham, it was better than the warehouse at the docs.
Kayla, "Really, cool! I can't wait to meet Daddy, did you know that there are 210 million kids that don't have any parents or parental figure in their life? We were part of that and now we aren't, I want to know how much Daddy knows, about families. I over-heard some of the people at the compound that his parents died when he was really young."
Midnight had taken off her mask revealing Karra underneath, "Yeah, too bad he doesn't have any other family." Both girls looked down, Kayla started crying. "What's wrong?"
Kayla sniffed a couple times, "I just wish I could have seen mom a couple of times before that mercenary came in, it's getting harder and harder to remember what she was like." Karra slid over and hugged her sister.
Karra "I wish I been with her longer too."
Kayla sniffed a couple more time and sat straight up, "Never mind," her face set into a hard determined look, "It doesn't mater anymore. She's gone, you and Daddy are all I have left, I don't need to worry about things that I can't have." She wiped her face clean of the tears, "So what was your idea for letting me seeing Daddy?" Her voice softened as did her face when she said that.
Karra moved back, "OK," Karra also got a hardened look as she described the plan, "There are a lot of little pieces so listen carefully."
It took over an hour for her to finish describing the plan, when she was done she said, "I have to go soon but I'll see you tomorrow at, 23, right?"
Kayla, "Yeah, and I really like your idea, I can't wait to see Daddy." They hugged then let go. "See you tomorrow."
Karra, "Tomorrow."
They both headed out and started north along that side of the docs, 23 was up there, as was the Batcave.
Kayla, "I love the sunset over the Gotham, it gets really pretty at this time."
Karra looked west over the water, "Yeah I guess it is kind-of pretty. Wait," she put her arm up stopping, Kayla, "What is that boat doing over here?"
Kayla, "This is a harbor it's where boats belong."
Karra, "Yeah but haven't you noticed, there aren't any other boats here, like none for at least half a mile. And what's beyond that there are only two people in there."
Kayla looked further into the boat, "Yeah your right, only two. It looks like a mother and son he looks about our age, still young. The mom looks about 20 maybe 30, but young."
Karra, "Do you see anything else?"
Kayla, "No but there is a little more security than most boats, but not that you can't hack soon enough." she looked at her sister, "Why?" Karra smiled as she put on her mask, "What are you thinking? Karra where are you going?"
Midnight put a finger to her lips, "Come with me I heard them talking about Daddy."
Kayla looked appalled at the thought, "Why, what are they saying?"
Midnight listened as she got closer, then a look of dread wiped over her face, "They, they know who Daddy is," she calmed herself a bit, "but they don't know about us, or at least not yet."
Kayla, "You, you mean they know the two way?" They had come up with code words for a lot, when they said two way it meant that there were two sides of a person, normally their 'human' side and their 'hero' side.
Midnight, "Yeah, they know only his two way." At this point they started down a corridor that led to the room where they were talking. "Hacking my way in... NOW." The computer on her arm came up as she hacked her way through the system. "We have two hours so I gave us a little bit of time."
Kayla smiled almost laughed, "Midnight I don't know how you can do it that fast, your crazy."
Midnight gave her a crazy look similar to one when the Joker gave his crazy gleam. In a slightly crazed voice she said, "I only do what I do."
Kayla, "What way to the room?"
As they made their way to what would be Talia al Ghul, and Damian al Ghul Wayne.
Talia, "I already told you you're going to see your father, because I have to rebuild the League of Assassins."
Damian, "But I don't want to see father. I want to stay with you." The sound of a sword hitting wood resonated throughout the ship
Kayla, "I don't need super-hearing to hear that." Midnight gave her a look and she shut-up.
Talia, "Respect you Father Damian!" her tone was harsh but understanding, "I understand you don't want to see him but you aren't safe with me anymore. I was taking a risk by keeping you with me before but now that Death Stroke is out there for blood, he won't stop until you, me, and the entire League are dead." There was a pause, and the sound a sword strokes stopped. "Damian, please just promise me that you can stay with him until I can come back and get you. Then you can run the League when you come of age."
Damian, "Fine, I'll stay with him, but I won't like it."
Talia, "That's all I ask. Thank you."
Midnight and Kayla were outside the door listening by this time. Kayla whispered into Midnight's ear, "Do you have any clue who they are? I don't like this, not one bit."
Midnight whispered back, "No I have no idea, and I don't like it anymore than you do. She's coming, get back."
Talia, "I'm going to call him tonight, you will get to see your father in the next three days."
Damian, "I still don't want to see him.
