There was just something strange about today. No matter what Mabel did, she had the strangest feeling that she was being watched by someone... or something.
It was another lazy yafternoon at the Mystery Museum. Triplets, Dipper, Mabel, and Wally sat on the sofa doing something to pass the time. Mabel was scribbling away in her sketchbook, Dipper had his nose buried in a book, and Wally was swinging his yo-yo around.
To make it short, they were bored.
"Is Grunkle Ford done with his tour yet?" Dipper asked.
"Not for another hour." Mabel said.
Wally's eyes slowly darted over to the journal sitting innocently on the table beside the couch. He got up and picked it up. "What do you guys say to a good 'ol fashion monster hunt?" He asked.
Mabel looked up from her drawing, eyebrows raised. "A monster hunt?" She asked.
"Sweet, I'm down!" Dipper said.
"I don't know you two, Grunkle Ford doesn't exactly know where we're going." Mabel said.
"Chill Mabes, we don't know where we're going either!" Wally exclaimed.
"That's not all that comforting." Mabel said.
"Look Mabel, if it makes you feel better, we'll stay out for an hour, nothing bad can happen in one hour." Dipper said.
"I guess..." Mabel said.
"Yay! Monster Hunt, Monster Hunt!" Wally and Dipper cheered.
Mabel smiled at her brothers' antics and joined in the cheering as they walked outside. 'I'm worrying too much, besides, we're not gonna go too far.' She thought
Little did she know that there was something watching them. In the shadows of the trees, a pair of blood red eyes watched the triplets as a pair of razor sharp teeth bared in a menacing snarl.
_________________"Where did it go!?"
"Over there!"
"Get it Dipper!"
"Almost...got it!"
"I caught it!"
Dipper and Mabel rushed over to Wally who was holding something in his hands. "You caused a lot of trouble." Wally panted.
"What is it?" Dipper asked.
Wally opened his hands slowly to reveal what looked like a mouse with wings. It was as white as snow with tiny beady black eyes.
"Aww! It's so cute!" Mabel cooed.
The creature scurried out of Wally's hands and perched itself onto the boy's shoulder. Mabel cracked open the journal and tried to find it's name.
"Hey little guy. You seem like a really fun type of guy, right?" Dipper asked.
It nodded.
"Whoa!" Dipper said, as he leaned closer, "You can understand me?"
Another nod.
"Aaannd, done!" Mabel turned the journal to her brothers, showing a life-like drawing of the creature perched on Wally's shoulder.
"What are we gonna call it?" Wally asked.
"Kuro!" Dipper chimed.
"The coffee machine?" Mabel asked.
"No, Kuro. It may sound similar, but it sounds cool right?" Dipper asked.
Wally turned his head to look at the critter, "What do you think, do you wanna be called Kuro?" He asked, the creature nodded once more.
