Dipper just sat there, gazing at the golden hand. It couldn't be, there was no way Ford wrote this. There was probably some logical explanation for this.
Then again...he knew something strange was up with this town. Then the journal's words rang through the boy's head once more.
TRUST NO ONE!
But Ford was family? Right? Then again, the town wasn't as it seemed.
"What ya got there Dipper?"
Dipper gave a startled cry as he fumbled with the journal. He whipped around, hiding it behind his back. "Wally?! Mabel?! Wha-what brings you here?" He asked.
"You've been gone forever Grunkle Ford sent us after you." Mabel said folding her arms over her chest.
"Just a...um...um...a mole!" Dipper said.
"A mole?" Mabel asked.
"Y-yeah! I found the little guy trapped in a log so I had to save him." Dipper lied.
"Dipper, we've lived together for thirteen years. That and we're triplets, we know when the other is lying." Wally said.
"Yeah, what do you have behind your back?" Mabel asked.
Dipper knew he was defeated. He could never keep a secret from his family. "All right. You guys got me. But this stays between us all right?" He said.
"Right." Wally said.
"No problem." Mabel added.
Dipper pulled the journal out from behind his back, showing his twins the cover. From their awestruck expressions, he could tell what they were thinking.
"Where did you find that?" Mabel asked.
"It was buried. It was like someone tried to hide it." Dipper replied.
"Do you think Grunkle Ford wrote it?" Wally asked.
"He must have. If not, the why is his handprint on the cover?" Dipper asked
Mabel put a finger to her chin. "Maybe this is what Grunkle Ford meant when he said people weren't ready for what was really out there." She said.
"And that's number three right? Do you think that somewhere there's two more?" Wally asked.
"Yeah, if there are two more of those books, then Grunkle Ford definitely knows where they are." Mabel agreed.
Dipper held the journal a little tighter. "I'm not sure. Ford probably his this for a reason, if we show it to him, there's a chance he'll take it away." He said.
"But he's been in Gravity Rises longer than the rest if us, he's bound to know something." Mabel said.
"Did I mention that it's only half full?" Dipper asked.
Both Mabel and Wally exchanged glances, "What are you getting at Dip?" they asked in unison.
"I mean there's still some stuff out there that hasn't been found yet! Just think about it guys, what's the one thing we wanted when we moved here?" Dipper asked.
"You tell us Dipper." Mabel said.
Dipper groaned, "I'm talking adventure, excitement, mysteries! If we fill this journal, we're bound to have all of that." He said, as he stepped between his brother and sister, holding the journal as the gold hand gleamed in the sun.
"I mean, if you guys are up for it." Dipper added.
"I could go for a little adventure." Mabel said.
