[10.] white lies

AFTER FINDING OUT that Peter's plan didn't work in the slightest, Dorcas took matter into her own hands. Her plan was to ask  Remus on a date to Hogsmeade and then approach Violet, asking her about who she was going with before dropping the bomb on the girl. 

Dorcas made her way around the library trying to find Remus. "Remus." She greeted the boy as she found him at the end of a bookcase.

"Hello Dorcas." The tall boy smiled which made her swoon and her heart skip a beat. 

"Remus," she began, walking towards him. "I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date to Hogsmeade?" she smiled bravely.

Remus froze. "Dorcas I uh.." Dorcas didn't allow him to finish before she grinned and kissed his cheek quickly. "Great, it's a date then." she winked before she left the library feeling excited.

As she walked outside, she spotted the strawberry blonde haired girl with Lily standing near a tree. A devious smirk made its way onto her lips as she approached them. "Violet, Lily." Dorcas greeted them.

Both sisters whipped around to look at her. "Dorcas." They both greeted. "I was just wondering if you girls had dates to Hogsmeade this weekend. It is the beginning of December and you know how romantic it gets." Dorcas smiled sweetly.

 During the holidays, Hogsmeade was where all the couples went, to just talk or to spend a day with each other. The first weekend the holidays start, it was a rule to take the girl you very much fancied on a date.

"Well not yet. But I'm pretty sure Remus will ask Violet, don't you think Lettie?" Lily nudged her sister, grinning.

Violet blushed and Dorcas gasped. "Were you planning on going with Remus?"

Violet shrugged, but she had a smile on her face. "Maybe."

Dorcas frowned. "You're a tad too late Violet.. I hate to break this to you, but I'm going with Remus."

The face of both sisters fell and Dorcas wanted to smirk. "What are you talking about?" Violet asked quietly as she stood up so that she was face to face with the blonde.

"Remus asked me to be his date to Hogsmeade, Violet. I'm sorry if you thought he was going to ask you. But I have to go, I'll see you girls later." Dorcas waved as she walked off to find her own friends.

Lily put a comforting arm around her sister as she saw her sisters glossy eyes. "I was so stupid Lils. I thought he actually liked me, but I guess it's always been Dorcas." Violet whispered, trying to contain the tears. "Oh Lettie," cooed Lily as they both gathered their things, ready to go back inside.

As they made their way back into the castle, they crossed paths with the group neither girl wanted to see at that moment.

"Lilyflower, Violet!" called out James as he saw them walking their way.

Lily groaned. "Don't call me that Potter!"

"Aw Vi, get your sister before she throws a tantrum." spoke Sirius as he turned his attention to the other girl.

Violet ignored him as she walked over to Remus. "Is it true? You're going to Hogsmeade with Dorcas?"

Remus stood still, not knowing how to reply. Of course he hadn't said yes to Dorcas, and he was planning on asking Violet, but it seemed that Dorcas wanted everyone to know that she was going on a date with him, while he felt forced.

When he didn't reply, Violet scoffed and shook her head. "I'll take that as a yes then. And to think that you may had actually liked me." She spoke cooly as she walked away with Lily, allowing the boys to think over what she just said.

"You're going to Hogsmeade with Meadowes!?"

"Really Moony? The dork Meadowes?"

Remus sighed as he tried to explain to his friends who were staring at him angrily. "Look, Dorcas asked me and I didn't even get the chance to deny her offer because she had already left, claiming we had a date." He explained, hoping his friends to understand.

"Do you want to go with Violet?" James asked, his arms crossed. Remus nodded quickly. "Of course. More than anything."

"Then it's settled. Go call off that date with Dorcas right now Remus."

Remus sighed and bit his bottom lip. "I can't find myself doing that. I don't want to go on that date, but I don't want to hurt her either."

Sirius glared at him. "You don't want to break off the date? Okay, fine by us. But don't you dare get angry when someone else asks Violet. At least we'll know he has the balls to ask her, unlike others."

James and Sirius walked off, leaving Remus to his own train of thoughts. What neither of them noticed was that Peter was hidden at the end of the corridor, a smirk on his face.

The plan was working.
