IF YOU ASKED about the Marauders, some people would only tell you that they were three of them. James, Sirius and Remus. The three musketeers. They usually never mentioned the fourth member, Peter Pettigrew. Peter was always seen as the sidekick, never really did quite fit in with the rest of them. While they all had their own unique traits that made girls swoon over them, Peter was as average as he could get. He wasn't funny like James, charming like Sirius or smart like Remus. He was plain and boring.
Maybe that's why he was done being the Marauders sidekick. He was done being the odd one out, the unattractive one. He wanted to grasp someone who would give him such power and feeling, and who would be better than Violet Evans?
Peter had always fancied the pretty girl, but never mentioned his crush, for the fear of his friends hating him, especially after it was announced that Remus was head over heels for her.
When Remus confessed his feelings for her, Peter felt angry. He was angry at himself for not saying anything earlier. He was angry at Remus for liking her, the girl Peter had fancied since 2nd year.
If only he had told them, then maybe Remus would be forced to get over her because Peter claimed her as his. But he knew that wouldn't have changed his feelings and it would be time before Remus charmed his way into her heart, taking the one person Peter always felt was his.
And Peter was not going to allow that, he was not going to allow Remus to whisk her away. He was determined to separate Remus from Violet, no matter what it took him. He was going to make Violet hated Remus with so much passion, that she'll come falling straight into Peter's arms.
He knew that if he was going to make his plan work, he had to get help from someone else. Someone who would be willing to see Remus and Violet never happening. Someone like Dorcas Meadowes.
Dorcas Meadowes was a pretty blonde girl who not so secretly fancied Remus Lupin. She liked the Gryffindor boy a whole lot, and couldn't help but feel a bit depressed at the fact that he would never notice her over the beautiful and smart Violet Evans. Dorcas disliked the strawberry blonde haired girl, hating her for being so perfect in Remus' eyes, and stealing him away.
So of course she didn't turn down the offer Peter made her. If she and Peter were able to make Violet hate Remus, they both would get the two people they wanted without any issues.
The first step was simple. All they had to do was tell Violet about Remus' furry little problem. Peter was going to approach her and tell her the secret, making sure he made Remus look like a complete monster. He was hoping this would make Violet's perspective on Remus change, forcing her to see him as the monster he was.
The steps following would all depend on the outcome of this first one, and they were positive it was going to work, and Violet Evans would refuse to acknowledge Remus Lupin ever again. But of course, who could even try to fool two people in love?
------
Violet sighed as she gladly walked back towards the beloved common room, happy to be done for the week. It was finally Friday and she was able to relax all weekend without being bothered. But being friends with James and Sirius would make it difficult, so she had jinxes memorized, waiting for the moment to use them on those two. Of course, she'll ask Remus to join her in her little game of jinxing idiots, and if he refuses, she'll jinx him too.
She smiled at the thought as she made a turn towards one of the corridors. "Violet!" called out a voice as she walked. Violet twirled around, seeing Peter. She smiled warmly as she walked towards the short boy. "Hey Peter. What are you doing here? I thought you would be with the rest of the boys."
He grinned at her, a red tint visible on his cheeks. "No, they're off somewhere else and I decided I wanted to spend sometime alone and what better than to walk around the castle? But that's not why I called your name. I was just wondering if you had heard the news," he began, making sure he sounded slightly worried.
A look of confusion crossed her features. "Heard what news?" Peter sighed. "You know.. about Remus?"
"What about him?"
Peter looked around and grabbed Violet's wrist. "I thought the boys would've told you by now. I'm surprised they haven't. I guess they really do want to keep this a secret.."
"Told me what Peter? Is there something wrong with Remus? Is he sick? Because if he is, I can take care of him and make sure he's not alone or I-" he cut her off. "No Violet, he's not sick. He's something else."
"Something else? Are you saying he's not who he says he is?"
He nodded and he leaned in towards her ear and he whispered. "He's a cold blooded killer, a monster." Violet gasped, and she pulled away. "A what?"
"He's dangerous. He's a werewolf."
Violet gave him an annoyed look. "Look, it's not his fault he was bitten. He was a victim of something horrific, but that doesn't change anything about him. He's still the same Remus Lupin I've learned to care and love for. Nothing about him is different. He's still beautiful and kind and he still makes my heart skip a beat every time I see him. I frankly don't give a damn about him being a werewolf or anything. He could be a bloody hippogriff and I still wouldn't care."
"You don't get it Violet, he's capable of killing someone. He could kill you on a full moon!"
Violet turned on her heel, not wanting to listen to him any longer. "Sweetheart, I've dealt with Petunia for years, so I think I can handle a werewolf."
A/n: I thought an update would be a good way to start the week off. (:
