Maya's POV
Of course not everyday was full of adventure. There were days spent with Lucas and his dad, Bryan, at the doctor and days spent watching movies at the house.
Lucas' POV
Maya and I were sitting on the couch in the living room, curled up with her head on my chest and our hands lying intertwined beside us. We were watching Mockingjay part 2, when it got over I looked over at her. "So are you going to the doctors appointment with us in the morning.?" "Of course" she said. I kissed her lightly before we each decided to go to bed since the appointment was early.
Maya's POV
I sat in the lobby while Lucas and Bryan were talking to the doctor, letting them have their privacy. They came out and I was alarmed at the difference in Lucas from when he'd gone back there. I pretended not to notice it however and asked anyways "how'd the appointment go?" Silence filled the air instead of Lucas' response. After a respectable pause, Lucas still hadn't responded so his dad spoke for him "fine" that was the only words that were spoke in the hour and half drive it took to get home. I kept looking at Lucas the whole ride home seeing if he was going to shake his mood but it seemed to be only getting worse. His hands were whiter than paper from his grip on the wheel and there was fire blazing in his eyes at an intensity I had never seen. We got home and he went straight to his room and that's when Bryan told me what had happened "they told us that there is only a 50% chance I'll beat the cancer" "I'm sorry. If you need anything please tell me" he chuckled "death doesn't scare me. But I think Lucas could really use you right now" he pointed to Lucas' bedroom door. I nodded in assent walking up the stairs. I went to open the door but it was locked so I knocked "go away" his tone was so twisted with emotion it was hardly recognizable. I sat there a moment recovering from how razor sharp his tone had been and then spoke "just open the door and talk to me" no sound came from the other side of the door. I waited a few minutes before giving up and heading back to my room I grabbed my phone and dialed zay's number, knowing he knew this side of Lucas better than I did. He answered and after exchanging greetings I explained what had happened that day and how Lucas had reacted. "Uh oh" he said "what?" "Don't let him out of that house... Texas Lucas likes to do things that he will regret later" I agreed to be on 'Lucas watch'. However it had been a long day and I ended up falling asleep around 4 AM. I woke up to cop sirens and a knock on Bryan's front door
