Maya's POV
I sat on my couch next to Riley. She had been keeping me company as much as her schedule allowed knowing that I didn't want to be alone after everything with Lucas. Neither of us said much (I wasn't much in the mood for conversation. Riley knew and therefor didn't push me into talking) "hey riles" I said. She turned her head to look at me and put a comforting hand on my shoulder "thanks" she smiled "I'll always be here" "me too" I said. Before we could decide wether to keep talking or go back to silence there was a knock on the door. I got up to answer it. I opened the door to reveal Lucas. "What're you doing-" my tone was half shocked and half angry. He cut me off before I could continue though. "I came to fix a monumental mistake I've made. Listen, growing up I dealt with a lot of being left. I panicked when I realized you were leaving too, thinking there was no way for us to work and you would just push me away like everyone else once you were gone. But you're not everyone else. You were leaving Texas not me. I know now that you wouldn't leave me. So I'm here to ask for a second chance?" I sighed "does that really seem smart? You're headed back to Texas." He smiled "but I'm not. I decided to show you that I'm not leaving you either. I wrecked my scholarship there and then you left and I knew that this was where I belonged. Please forgive-" I cut him off by putting my lips on his. He kissed back passionately. Riley laughed "I'm gonna go now" she got up from the couch "thank you for everything" I said as she reached the door "anytime" she said, shutting the door behind her and leaving.
