Zayden

"Freya Lambert!"

Parang may tambol sa puso ko.

Tama ba 'yong narinig ko?

Hindi.

Hindi pwede.

Nasa States siya, 'di ba? Iniwan niya nga ako para ro'n, 'di ba? Bakit pa siya babalik? Nagpakabakla na nga ako! Sinara ko na ang puso ko! Wala siyang karapatang bumalik... wala.

FLASHBACK

"Wala nang patutunguhan ang relasyon na 'to. I'm sorry, Zayden." Iyak niya.

I hate this. I hate to see her cry but I don't get her.

"What are you talking about? Aren't we supposed to celebrate? At last nakamit mo na ang dream mong makapuntang States for this job! Anong walang patutunguhan ang sinasabi mo?" I asked her.

Naguguluhan na ako sakanya.

"Zayden, hindi na ako babalik. Doon na ako mag s-stay for good."

"Then, I'll come with you." Sabi ko at kinuha ang cellphone ko para tawagan ang secretary ko.

"What are you doing?" Nagulat na tanong niya.

"I'm booking a flight to the States."

"Zayden!" Hampas niya sa braso ko dahilan para tumalsik ang cellphone ko sa lapag.

Tiningnan ko siya. I don't know what to do after what she just did.

"Zayden, I'm breaking up with you! Don't you understand that?! Ayaw ko na!"

Pakiramdam ko binuhusan ako ng malamig na tubig.

I looked at her.

She changed.

She's not Freya.

She's not the Freya that I fell inlove with.

"W-What . . . " was the only word I managed to say.

"Zayden, wala akong mapapala sa'yo. All you know is to act, sing, write a song, dance, and model. That's what you are and I'm too far from that. I'm one of the tops, I deserve someone also from the top. Zayden, all my parents are expecting from you is to be a Summa Cum Laude, the highest of all but you let them down. You let me down. They want the best for me, I want the best for me."

"Freya, for Pete's sake! Just for not being the Summa?! I managed to have the Magna title at least! I thought it's alright? Akala ko ba tama na 'yon? I tried my best! I did everything—!"

"Then your everything is not enough. You are not enough."

My heart broke into billion pieces.

Four words. One second. That's how fast she broke my heart into billion pieces.

Maybe I was too inlove that I forgot how to look in her eyes to see how it changed.

"Zayden?"

Napalingon ako kay Luna na mukhang kanina pa ako pinagmamasdan.

Nginitian ko siya. But I can feel that she can see that my smile is fake.

Napalingon ulit ako sa entrance. Siya nga ba 'yon?

Anak ng tinapa naman! 'Di ako mapakali! Bakit ang tagal? Bakit... argh! Ano, nilamon na ba siya ng red carpet? Napunta na ba rito traffic sa EDSA??

Lumalapit ang ingay sa amin.

Palapit ito ng palapit na akala mo ay may sarili itong mga paa.

Bawat hakbang tumitigil ang tibok ng puso ko.

Maglalakad na sana ako palayo pero—

"It's been a while."

I looked back at her.

She's there.

Still the same old Freya, nothing changed after all—except what's between us.

"Zay—"

"ZAYDEEEEEEEN!!!!!"

Napalingon naman ako kay—Luna?
