Chapter 19- Family Day

Evie POV

I woke up early next morning, and remembered that today was Family Day. I sighed, remembering what happened with the video chat.

I lost the only family I knew.
I'm now alone.
But I have Mal, Jay, and Carlos, they're like my family. Along with Ben, Doug, Audrey, Lonnie, and Jane.

Mal woke up and we got dressed. We walked to the guys dorm and saw that most of the halls were empty, so we went to the front of the ship.

It wasn't as crowded, and I saw Doug by the railing. I walked to him, and he looked at me.

"Hey," he said

"Hey," I said back.

"Listen, about yesterday, I'm sorry about what your mother said to you."

"No, no. It wasn't your fault. I just want her to respect my decisions that aren't beauty related." He looked into my eyes, and the breeze pushed my hair back.

"I think you're perfect."

I know I promised to be with a prince, but Doug much better than any of them.

Mal POV

I found Ben, and he was by his parents. I slowly walked to them, hoping he'll walk away.

"Hey, Mal." He said. I smiled and walked to him and the King and Queen of Auradon. "This is Mal, from the island, my girlfriend."

"Hi." Belle said a bit nervously.

"I was hoping she can join us for lunch." Ben said.

"Of course. Aurora's Family will also be joining, along Cinderella and her family."

"Is it alright if my friends come?" I asked. I turned to see Evie and Doug talking and Jay and Carlos are by the chocolate fountain.

"Yes, the more the merrier." Belle said

"Great. I'll go grabbed them." I told them. I left to the chocolate fountain and Jay and Carlos were trying each fruit available.

"Hey guys, we'll be having lunch with some Royals." I said.

"Who exactly?" Jay asked

"It'll be us Ben and his family, Audrey and her family, Chad and his family, and Jane and her mom."

"Can I come?" Doug asked.

"Yeah. I'm sure they won't mind." Evie said

We all went back to where Ben was and followed him into the dining hall. We found a big enough table for all of us and we each took a seat.

I sat by Ben, and he sat by his mother. The king was next to her than it was Phillip, Aurora, and Audrey. Jay sat by her and next to him was Evie then Doug. Cinderella sat next to Doug, and beside her was Prince Charming and Chad. The Fairy Godmother was next to him, and Jane was in her other side. Carlos sat by her and then I sat by him.

"Did always get what you wanted on the Isle?" Belle asked

"We manage with what we have." Carlos said.

"The way I see it," Ben said "I think of everyone's life as a gift. I love waking up in the morning, not knowing what'll happen. We should waste the time that we have. You never know what hand you'll get to help next. We learned to take on life as it comes at you... make each day count."

Maybe we should make each day count. I've been spending most of my life doing the same thing, I should change that.

"Well said my son." His father told him.
