Chapter 12

Katniss' POV:
I wrap my hands around Glimmer's neck and we both go tumbling down into the grass. I loose my grip on her neck and she jumps on top of me scratching at my face. I push her off of me and I start punching her in her face. By then there are people shouting and yelling. I have blood on my hands but I just keeping punching and scratching at Glimmer's face until I feel someone picking me up and dragging me away from her. I look up and its Peeta. "Let me go!" I shout trying get away from him. "Katniss stop!" He says holding on to me tight. "Look Peeta Mellark you better put me down right now!" I yell as I release myself of his grip."Why are you over here worried about me when you could be over there with your new girlfriend?" I say pushing him away from me. Peeta grabs my arm and turns me around. "Katniss. Why are you so angry?" He says frowning. "Peeta! Did you not just see what happened? And what about the last few days? How could I not be mad?" "But Katniss-" "Peeta! No! I don't have time to-" "Katniss just listen to what I have to say!!" I stop walking and look at him. Peeta has never raised his voice at me before so this must be important. "Look Katniss. I admit I did kiss Glimmer and I already told you that. So you have the right to be mad at me." I stand there and wait for him to continue. "I realized how stupid I was and I couldn't stop thinking about you." "Then what was that I just saw Peeta? It didn't look like you were thinking about me when you were kissing Glimmer." I look down as tears fill my eyes. Without hesitating he puts his hands on my cheek and kisses me. "You may not like me anymore but I still like you Everdeen." He says before turning to walk away. "Peeta wait!" I say running after him. "Did you really mean what you said?" Yes. And I always will." "Well why didn't you come back for me?" "Because I was stupid." "Well Peeta. I don't like you." I watch as he looks down at the ground. "I love you." I say smiling and then he looks up at me. He picks me up and I wrap my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck never wanting to let go.

For several months Peeta and I gradually grow back together. We've been together for a year now and we have been thinking about moving in together. Ever since that day I had the fight with Glimmer we never want to leave each other's side. We think its best if we just buy a house and live together. But tonight I don't worry about that because Peeta is taking me somewhere special. He tells me to meet him at the park. When I get there he takes my hand and we walk all around the park. Then Peeta takes me to the fancy restaurant we had our first real date at. It was so romantic. He had also brought me another bracelet better than the one he gave me before. It has my name engraved on it with flowers on it. Finally when I thought the night couldn't get any better Peeta says he has a surprise for me. We drive in his car for a little while and then he tells me to close my eyes. He takes my hand and I close eyes. When I open them there is a big beautiful house right in front of me. I gasp. "I was hoping for that response." Peeta says pulling me close to him. "Is this really ours Peeta?" "Yes." "Peeta how could you afford this?" "Don't worry about that. All I want is for you to be happy." He says kissing my forehead. "I love you Peeta." I say staring into his eyes. "I love you too Kat." Then I kiss him and he wraps his arms around my waist. That leads to one kiss after another. Which leads to me wanting more. I think Peeta does to but they'll be plenty of time for that when we are finally settled into our very own house.
