Tobin's POV
"Look out!" I heard someone yell from somewhere on the field, but my eyes and focus were plastered on the flying ball coming towards me. I backed up towards the midfield, and apparently so did the defender of the opposite team. Before I could react, I smashed into someone and fell to the ground.
I immediately started laughing, seeing as it was more clumsy than hurtful, and turned around to see the new defender, Julie. She was smiling as well, sitting up now.
"I'm so sorry." She said, sounding a little nervous. "No worries, it was probably my fault." I smiled, seeing her ease up. Kelley was cracking up next to us, trying to say something inaudible through her laughing.
"Why you trying to take out the new kid, Toby?" She got out, and I just laughed at her.
Alex had rushed to my side now, bending down next to me.
"You okay?" She said with a smile, knowing I was fine. I nodded, taking her reached out hand and got up. I turned around to see if Julie needed help but, but she was already taken care off by another new face on the team. The two smiled and laughed, looking a little nervous around each other. They were cute.
"Maybe they're the new Talex." Alex spoke next to me, and I saw she was also looking at the two newbies. "The new what?" I asked, not having a clue to what she was saying. "Talex, Tobin and Alex. I don't know, it's a thing Kelley joked around with." She just laughed and shrugged her shoulders.
"Do you wanna sleep over tonight?" Alex asked, as we waited for the practice game to start back up. I smiled towards her, never saying no to spending the night with the brunette beauty. "Sure." I answered, earning a smile in return. "But no funny business, Morgan." I joked, giving her a smirk. She playfully hit my shoulder, just shaking her head with a smile. "Auch." I faked getting hurt, holding my arm. "Aw." She said sarcastic, wrapping both her arms around me from behind. "Better?" She spoke with an accent, hugging me tight. I loved the feeling. "A little." I tried holding back my smile for a little longer, but it wouldn't do."Hey, love birds! Head in the game." I heard HAO yell from across the field, and Alex pulled her arms away. I looked over to see HAO just now turning to us, looking back and fourth between us and the two newbies, Julie and Christen. "Wait, were you talking to us or them?" I asked, laughing a little as everyone looked confused. "Actually, I was talking to those two." HAO pointed towards Ali, who was no jogging back out on the field from the sidelines where Ashlyn was.
"There's too many damn couples on this team." I heard A-Rod mumble as she walked by, not being able to keep the laughter in.**
Christen's POV
"Look out!" Cheney beat me to the yelling, but it was too late. Julie and Tobin ran backwards into each other in a clumsy collide. My first instinct was to help, but as I got closer I quickly realized they were both fine. Both laughing as I got over, Julie now turned to me after exchanging a few words with Tobin.
"You okay there?" I asked, not being able to hide my smile. "I'm fine, thanks." She said back, looking slightly embarrassed as she laughed. I reached out my hand and she took it, getting up next to me.
"If you wanna play mid, I'm sure there's other ways to get there than take out the players." I joked, holding on to her hand longer than I needed to. After I dropped it, the lack of her touch was a feeling I didn't I like.
Yesterday was a great day thanks to her, and I actually feel like I have a friend now. I kinda do wish she might become something more than a friend later on, but so far I'm only working on that. I have no idea how I'm doing.
"Hah, funny." She said sarcastic, still smiling.
"By the way, I was gonna ask you, Ali invited us to Ashlyn's big party tomorrow. Apparently her parties are like the happenings of the year around here." Julie spoke eager, looking excited at me. It made my already wide grin grow even bigger. "She did? Sure, I'd love to." I wanted to party with Julie for sure, but a part of me was definitely scared that i'd make a fool out of myself when the alcohol kicks in. It tends to turn me a little crazy.
"Great! I think Moe and Lindsey will tag along, but we can just ditch them once we get there." Julie smirked, and I loved when she did that.
"You don't have to ditch your friends to hang out with me." I said smiling, knowing I kinda wanted her to despite what I said.
"What if I want to ditch my friends to hang out with you?" She raised her eyebrows, giving me a cheesy smile in return. My grin grew bigger by the second, just as every time I talk to her.
"Oh really?" I smirked back, getting a tingly feeling in my stomach. "Want me to go tell them you said that?" I joked, pretending to move towards the girls. Julie's face panicked for a second, before she broke into a smile, pulling me back by my jersey. We both laughed as her arm ended up on my lower back, without her removing it. We stood close just smiling like a couple idiots."Hey, love birds! Head in the game." I heard someone yell from across the field, and immediately took a step away from the defender. We both looked over to where the voice came from, meeting lots of confused faces. "Wait, were you talking to us or them?" Tobin asked, now looking over at us. I felt my cheeks burn slightly as the many faces of the team started at us. I also noticed how Moe and Lindsey kept wiggling their eyebrows towards Julie, who desperately tried to make them stop. It was very cute.
"Actually, I was talking to those two." HAO pointed towards Ali, who was no jogging back out on the field from the sidelines where Ashlyn was. I was relieved she wasn't yelling at us, but I still felt guilty of charge.
"Totally though we were about to get in trouble." Julie leaned towards me, giving me that heavenly smile. "Same." I laughed, seeing that Morgan started the ball from the other side of the field. "You're about to get in trouble anyways though." I smirked, getting ready to find a way to get around Julie with the ball.
"Oh, it's on." She said confident.**
Later that night
"How's your first week going, Chris?" Channing, my older sister, had come home for the weekend to visit the new house. She studies abroad and I don't get to see her that often, so I'm always happy when she's home.
"Good actually, the new team is not so bad." I smiled, thinking of one certain defender in particular. "Thanks great. Made any new friends?" She continued, jumping down next to me on the couch with a bowl of cereal.
"Yeah, a couple. And I got invited to a party tomorrow, so that's cool I guess." I knew how much Channing hated parties in high school, she always used to talk about how stupid the people partying all weekend were.
She looked at me, hidden smile on her face. "You're going to a party?" She asked, sounding surprised. "With who?" She continued, before I could answer. I had to smile at the fact that it was surprising, because it kinda made me look like a total loser. "Just some teammates." I said simple, not wanting her to get all teasy. "And don't look so surprised." I added, causing her to crack a smile. "Sorry." She laughed lightly, easing up to the idea. "Just take it easy, okay? Want me to give you a ride?" She started acting like a big sister, which I can't blame her for doing. After agreeing to maybe let her take me, she started asking more questions.
"So there's like no cute girls at this place?" She said sarcastic, and I rolled my eyes at her. "Well, sure there is! I just, I don't know." I tried brushing it off. She tends to get way too excited and embarrass me if I got crushes, not that it happens often. "You're so not telling me something." Channing looked intense at me, for sure trying to break me.
It worked. "Fine, I guess there's this one girl. It's nothing really, but I mean, she's cute." I tried wording myself carefully, but just the thought of Julie made me smile. "I knew it!" She said satisfied, smirking at me now. "Wow, you really like this girl. Look at that smile." She continued, already getting to the teasing part.
"Shut up." I mumbled, shaking my head. "Is she by any chance going to this party of yours?" She continued, slightly bumping into my shoulder with her own. I looked up at her, knowing I might as well just tell her now.
"Well considering she's the one that invited me, I would certainly hope so." I smiled, seeing Channing look overly excited. "Way to go, Chris." She held up her hand to give a high five, but I left her hanging just for fun.
"Can we not talk about this anymore now, how's Hayden?" I tried distracting her by asking how her best friend is doing. "We're not done with this, but I'll let it go for now."(A/N: Here you go, Talex is on! Let me know if there's anyone you're missing or would want into the story:)
