"I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22
Everything will be alright if you keep me next to you
You don't know about me, but I bet you want to.."
"Shut the hell up! You're not even 22!" I groaned at my crazy roommate.
"I know but you are! Well, not 'til like 12, but whatever. It still counts," Ariel responded in her happy voice. The one that's way to cheerful for anytime before noon.
"Ariel, what time is it exactly?"
" Last I checked it was like 7:30, why?"
" What the actual fuck? Ariel come back in like three hours when I can actually handle you. I don't think even God wakes up this early," I begged. But apparently the universe hates me, because next thing I knew I'm being thrown on to my bedroom floor. She warned me to be dressed and downstairs before she came back with cold water.
"Oh, and Kam?"
"WHAT?!" I yelled back at her.
"Happy birthday," she says with a wink before she sashayed down the hall, probably to go spread the happiness with her new fiancee, Mason. I roll my eyes and get up off the floor. Mason's not a bad guy, I mean if he can put up with me and little miss perky, props to him.
Once I finally get my lazy ass off the floor, I walk into the kitchen to find Mason and Ariel basically dry humping each other on the kitchen counter. I EAT THERE!
"Guys, seriously? We don't need a little Mason running around."
"That's hurtful! What if we had a little me?" Ariel asks with a frown.
"That is a world I don't want to live in. One is enough, thank you very much." I said biting back a smile. She pouts and Mason wraps his arms around her tiny little waist before kissing her forehead. He asked if I was ready to go.
"Uh, no. Does it look like it? Besides, I haven't had breakfast yet, and we all know I can't function without a hearty breakfast. Ariel rolls her eyes.
"Its 7:30 at night, shouldn't you be having dinner now?" Mason asked me. I ignored him and grabbed my Frosted Flakes from the pantry while Mason just shook his head at us.
I skipped back to my room, happier now that I've had my favorite cereal. I took a long hot shower before I changed into my tightest, sexiest dress for our night out. The red lacy material clung to me like a second skin and hugged my curves in all the right places. I took my time curling my long, strawberry blonde hair. I added a couple bobby pins to pull back my bangs, before starting my makeup. I lined my aqua eyes with a black cat eye and put on my favorite mascara. I swiped on some red lipstick before throwing on some big earrings and a leather jacket. Ariel walks in, asking if I'm ready yet.
"Yeah, sure. Where are we going tonight?" I asked grabbing my black stilettos
"The Parlor, where else?"
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
We walked into THE PARLOR, our favorite night club in downtown San Francisco. Tyler, our best friend of about three years, was waiting for us at the bar. I still can't believe Ari tried set us up on a blind date. I shake my head at the memory, avoiding his hug. No offense to Ty, I'm just not a touchy feely person unlike Ariel, little Miss Social Butterfly, who greets him with a big smile and kiss on the cheek.
"Happy birthday Kam! Is that a gray hair I see? Damn you're getting old." he says with a wink. I roll my eyes and ruffle his hair. Tyler and I have been joking about our ages since we met, and discovered, I'm 20 days older.
