"I bet you can't catch me, flower girl!"Josh yelled.

"I hate that you're my brother!" I teased, "And don't call me that."

"Well, you're gonna have to deal with it!" He yelled back. "And the nickname isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It suits you," He said laughing, which made me even madder. Even though I knew he was just trying to get in my head.

Hey guys! It's me, Daisy. Josh is one of my older brothers. He's 16 and two years older than me. I live in Phoenix, Arizona. The weather is usually nice, but it can get REAL hot. Basically like a desert, which I guess that's exactly what it is. I've lived in Phoenix my whole life. I live with my mom, dad, grandmother, my brothers Josh, Andy(17), and Jacob(Josh's twin), and my two sisters, Patricia(19), and Kayla(18). As you can tell, I have a big family and sadly, I'm the youngest.

My family is rather wealthy, but we never really do much as a family or go on vacations. My mom is a lawyer and my dad is a businessman, but they are pretty much always working. Also since my siblings are all in high school, they're super busy with their homework and loads of after school activities. Luckily, tomorrow is my last day of middle school! I'm gonna be in high school too next year!

"Are you gonna try to catch me or what!" Josh yelled. I better get back to life now.

"You bet yah!" I chased him for a while when all of the sudden, Andy and Jacob came out.

"Guys!" Josh and I stopped in our tracks. They had a look of fear on their faces and there was even sweat on their foreheads. They were running as if their lives depended on it, which seemed unlikely. But probably true saying that they were RUNNING. They never, never, EVER, run unless if it's an emergency.

"You need to follow us, right NOW!" They exclaimed.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"There's no time! Come now!" They yelled back. Of course, we followed them. They led us into the house. There, on the couch in the living room, was grandma. She looked terrible! She was pale, sweating, and I think she was shaking.

"GRANDMA!" Me and Josh yelled at the same time.

"It's okay sweeties, I'm just fine." Even though she clearly wasn't.

"You always say that, tell me what's happening. You look on the verge of death!" I told her.

"I'm sorry to say this sweeties but I believe that's it." Grandma replied sadly.

"YOU'RE DYING?!?" If you haven't noticed, When things really get bad, I tend to not keep thoughts to myself and that sometimes becomes a problem for me.

"Afraid so sweetie,"she answered.

"Young lady, your grandmother just had a really bad heart attack and I'm afraid there's nothing we can do now." Wait a second, that voice doesn't sound very familiar. I turned around and there was a guy in a white jacket. He must be a doctor. My parents probably called him.

"May I have a moment to talk with Daisy, alone, please?" Grandma asked.

"Of course," everyone said as they left the room. I looked at Grandma. She was paler then ever. She looked at me with pleading eyes.

"Daisy, sweetie, will you do me a favor?"

"Of course," I answered. She took my hand gently.

"Don't let being the youngest in the family stop you from being and believing in yourself. You're a wonderful girl, you have a great future, and you can do great things."

"Why do you want to talk to me out of all my brothers and sisters?" I asked.

"You remind me of myself when I was a kid. I was the youngest and I know how it feels. Don't tell the others I said this, but you're my favorite grandchild."

"Thanks," I smiled. Her words then started to slow down.

" I ...love.... you ....sweetie, .....be ......good."

"I love you too and don't worry, I'll be good."

"Good......good......and..........find..............the............the," her eyes closed, her breathing ceased, and her hand slipped from mine and dangled from the couch. The tears came faster then I ever could've imagined. In no time, I was on my knees, bawling my eyes out. My family heard my crying and came in.

"She left us?" My mother asked with tears in her eyes. I was crying so hard I just nodded my head. "Oh, sweetie, it's going to be okay. She's in a better place now." I cried even harder because that's exactly the kind of thing grandma would say. My whole family huddled together on our living room floor and we cried together. Wishing grandma didn't have to go.

Surprisingly though, there was a very small bit of hope inside of me. One thing that made the pain ease a little bit. My family... we were all together. My parents took this time off of work, and my siblings had put aside their schoolwork. Just so we could really appreciate each other and cherish our memories of grandma.

So we could see that what we do for each other and what grandma once did for us really does matter.

After a very long time of mourning, I left our family huddle and silently and sullenly dragged myself to my room.
                                                                                            ****************
My room is a pretty good size. Although I wish my closet was bigger. It is a rectangular shape with one pink wall, one blue, one purple, and the last green. I have a bed with a rainbow colored bedspread, a desk and chair, a bookshelf, a closet (of course), and an area in one of the corners surrounded by pillows for relaxing and reading.

Amazingly, I have a room to my self and so does Andy. Patricia and Kayla share a room and Jacob and Josh share a room. I headed over to my relaxation area and laid on the floor. I thought about Grandma's last words. What did she want me to find? Just then, someone knocked on my door. "It's unlocked!" I yelled. The door opened, and my friend Lindsey walked in.

"Hi Daisy. I heard about what happened. Wanna talk about it?" She asked sadly.

"I'd rather not."

"Alright then." What I really liked about Lindsey was she didn't force me to do anything unless she thought I was capable. We've been friends since preschool. She was there when I learned to ride a bike, pulled out my first tooth, and now when my grandmother died. In fact, she's not just a friend, she's my best friend. She came over and sat by me in my bundle of pillows. We sat in silence for a while. Then, she spoke. "I didn't want to make you jealous, after what happened, but I just couldn't wait to tell you that I met a cute boy last Friday."

I rolled my eyes. "Have you gone on any dates yet?" I said, just trying to keep the conversation going.

"No, but he asked me out and I said yes, of course."

"No boy has ever asked me out," I told her sadly.

"Don't worry," she said,"I'm sure it'll happen sometime soon. You're still only 14." By the way, Lindsey is 15. She's a year older than me. "Do you like any boys?" Lindsey asked me. Uh oh. Not this topic! I feel like keeping my thoughts to myself about this so.......

"No," I told her.

"I know you do, but I'm not going to force you to tell me after what happened," she replied. I quickly changed the topic.

"Do you have any homework?"

"Yeah," Lindsey answered.

"I have homework too. Can we work on it together?" I asked.

"Sure, I just got to go home real quick to grab it." She got up, opened the door, slipped through, and closed it behind her. She lives within walking distance of me. About fifteen minutes later she reappeared and we worked on homework together until it was too late and she had to leave. I then got ready for bed, and climbed under the covers. As I drifted off to sleep, I thought of what could happen the next day. No matter how much I thought of that that night, I never would have guessed what would really happen.
