It was silent for a long time while Susan tried to collect the right words. She was saying 'hmmm...' a lot with her elbow resting on the coffee table and her hand resting against the side of her head. It took a long time. Me and Gabe kept giving each other questioning looks.
We had know idea what she was preparing to explain. I kept thinking about all the possibilities. There were thousands! All we knew is that she could teleport and that it must be a really big deal.
During all of this, the blond girl gave us looks whenever me and Gabe looked at each other. Oh, wait... you're probably really confused. Ok...Here, I'll explain it.
Me and Gabe would look at each other and then when we looked away we would notice the blond girl looking at us when we were giving questioning looks to each other. When she noticed we were looking at her, she'd raise her eyebrows and make kissing faces.
Seriously, I thought. Does she just not have anything better to do then make us annoyed. For the last time, WE ARE NOT TOGETHER OR DATING AND WE NEVER WILL BE!!!!!!
Ok, I'll admit, that was a little harsh to way to say it even though it's true. We are not together. But, I'm just so HANGRY! And yes, I mean 'hangry.' I haven't eaten anything since lunch and it's almost 6 now. I am also angry, but not from the lack of food. BECAUSE OF HER!!!!!!!
All of the sudden Gabe whispered in my ear, "deep breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth." Because all his other techniques to calm me worked, I did what he said. I immediately felt better. I'd have to use that technique whenever this happens because I know it will happen again. Unless the blonde girl disappears, which would be really weird. I wonder if...
My thoughts were interrupted when Susan began to speak. "Daisy.." She started, which caught my attention. I turned toward her and tried to make eye contact with her, but she turned away from me and looked down at the coffee table.
She grabbed her tea cup and started stirring her tea with a spoon. "...Me and your grandma were very close. We knew each other since we were babies. I called her Ellie and she called me Susie as babies since we couldn't say each others full names yet. As the years went by, we just kept growing closer. We jumped rope as little girls and helped each other through the hard times. We always had each others backs. We were born in the same hospital, almost at the same time. I was born only a few minutes before your grandmother. We were even born in the same room." She paused just enough to let this start sink into my brain. Wait a second... my thoughts started. Does that mean...
"Daisy, me and your grandmother were sisters." Confirming what I was just about to figure out. Twins, I thought. That means the crazy lady, Susan is my...great aunt? My vision fizzled out. All I could think was, well...nothing. Not a word crossed my mind.
I had no words to describe what I was feeling. I was only one thing in this moment. I was really, really confused. My hearing faded away too, and all I could hear was an incessant humming. Luckily, this lasted only a few minutes. At least that's what they told me when it was over.
Apparently, I had passed out again and someone put me on the floor, pillow underneath my head and my feet elevated on the coffee table. Gabe...I thought. He must have done this. I mean, I was sitting on his lap. He must have done it. It was also just the sort of thing he would do. Especially for me, since this has become a repeating pattern.
I'd pass out from something crazy someone told me and Gabe would catch me. Him saving me was also something that happened a lot. Now I just needed to start saving him to repay him. I wouldn't be able to stand it if someone helped me and I didn't help them back. It's just how I am.
