We were released for lunch and on the way down I ran into Lindsey. Now when I say ran into her, I mean I literally ran into her. She dropped her lunch.

"Sorry about that," I told her.

"That's alright," she replied and I helped her pick up her lunch.

"Where's Michael?" I asked, just realizing he wasn't there.

"He got in trouble and is in lunch detention."

"What did he do?"

"He talked back to the teacher." Now I'm really confused. Michael didn't seem like the talkative type when I met him.

"That's too bad. For you, I mean."

"Yeah," she replied. "It's not like him to get in trouble."

"How do you know that? You've even known each other for a couple of days.

"You know what, you're right. I don't really know him yet." Just then, I realized we had subconsciously walked to our lunch table. I guess it was because we have done it so many times. We sat down with our friends Susie and Clarissa. They aren't my best friends, like Lindsey is, but they're still good friends of mine.

"Sup Lindsey, Sup Daisy," Susie said.

"Hey! Guess what?!?" Lindsey exclaimed.

"What?" Susie asked.

"I have a boyfriend!"

"Awww! Who is he?"

"Michael," she said.

"Oh, he's cute."

"Hey, don't get any ideas. He's mine."

"I would never do that."

"I don't know about that," Lindsey answered skeptically.

"Hey, guys, are you ready for the math test?" Yeah, I just changed the subject alright. I don't like talking about boys. It makes me uncomfortable. I'm not really into the drama happening around school like Lindsey is.

"Yeah, I studied really hard last night," Clarissa said. also, Clarissa doesn't like talking about boys either. She's really shy. She doesn't talk much and gets uncomfortable really easily.

"I already took the test. It's really easy," Susie said.

"Oh that's good. I was worried I wouldn't do good," Lindsey said, relieved. Lindsey has a 'C' in math and all her other grades are A's and B's. She really wants to get that grade up. On the other hand, me and Susie are A and B students and Clarissa gets all A's. I don't know how she does it. A lot of kids say she should be sitting at the nerd table but she always says she wants to sit with us because we're her real friends. She's a really nice friend.

"Even if it was hard, your pretty smart. I'm sure you'd do fine," Susie said.

"Aw!  Although you know I have a C in math, right?"

"Just trying to cheer up and doing what friends do." You know what friends also do?"

"What?" I asked.

"Talk about boys! So, Lindsey, how long have you and Michael been dating?" And back to boys. Eventually lunch was over and we went out to recess. Usually I play basketball with whoever I can find since my friends aren't into basketball. Lindsey and Susie are into all the drama happening around school, while Clarissa is into music and the arts. I saw a group of kids, mostly boys, playing basketball and told my friends I was gonna go play with them. I was glad to get away from their conversation, but of course they weren't done yet.

"Do you think when Daisy is over there, she'll find her special someone?" Susie whispered a little too loudly.

"I sure hope so, she deserves one," Lindsey replied. I was so annoyed by them I just rolled my eyes and walked away, toward where the kids were playing. Oh boy, though just when I thought things were really boring, things started getting interesting. And who was walking toward me at that very second was a whole different story.
