Someday in time there will be a place where the beat in my heart won't be a mystery, it'll be the future.
It's mid-afternoon, and the UV rays are burning the the poor souls to crisp on the beach. So much for spf 50 sunloation, lucky for me Makenna has a beach umbrella. Laying on our funky beach towels, soaking up the sun for a golden tan, Marcus wades in the water.
"Look how droplets of water stick to his chest. Meow!" Makenna purrs like a hungry kitten, hunting her prey.
"Oh god." I groan, smacking my hand over my face. "It's Marcus for crying out loud, he's like a brother." I try to reason with her.
"To you maybe." She turns onto her back.
"What are your thoughts on Jacy?" I ask. The way he looked at her through the rear view mirror that day driving to school, I could tell he was more than interested in her.
"He has a really cool car." She answers.
"Anything about him!?" I restate my question.
"He's like all the other football guys, a juvenile delinquent who only wants sex." She assured herself. Her words were partly true, it could be possible Jacy only wants her for sex, but I doubt it. The way he looked at her, I know there had to be more.
"Okay, now that you've stated all the negative points about him, what are some of the positive points?" I hunt for her interests in him.
"Well, he's in great shape, has a very attractive body." She said.
"Don't they all?!" I groan at her simple answers.
"Okay okay. He has amazing green eyes, it's like a tornado of green penitrating the pupil." She beamed, a glow about her as she explains.
"That's one way to put it." I say, laughing. I move to sit up, the heat has dehydrated my skin enough. I'm never really one to tan, but somehow Makenna convinced me to.
"Speaking of the devil." Makenna whispers. I fling around, seeing Jacy, Lucaus, and Kale walking down to the water only a little ways away.
"Let's go and soak up some salt water." I summon her to join me.
We wade in the water until we're waist deep. Marcus joined us, swimming over with a smug look. Mini waves splash against my body, caused from the speeding boats further out in the ocean waters.
"Let's go rent some floats." Marcus announced, latching his hands onto Makenna and my wrists, dragging us out of the water. Our feet immerge into the hot sand. The beach huts lined up, sitting in the sand near the entrance to the public beach. Towels and sand pails decorated the shinny sand. Our last step to the beach huts, the sand burning at our almost charcoal crisp feet, causes us to leap onto the wooden platform connected to the huts. An ice cream hut, with over 200 flavours sits at the end, among the other huts. A frankie hut, decorated with fake plastic frankies and bottles of ketchup, mustard, and relish. A board hut next to a rack with various boards, and last but not least the float rental hut.
We enter the hut, looking at the large variety of floats. A large pizza floatie, a donut with a bight out of it, beach balls, swan floats, large floats for multiple people, small floats for two or one.
"How may I help you?" I girl asked, moving her round sunglasses from her eyes, propping them on top of her head. She had an obvious fake spry tan, almost causing me to spill out my laughter, but I manage to sucked it in.
"I want the unicorn!" Makenna shouts with a demanding yet cheerful tone. A large unicorn float hung from the huts roof, it could approximately hold two people.
