"I want to meet her," I insisted as I talked to Remus. He shook his head.
"What, and make the whole thing look even more suspicious? It's bad enough that you're not bullying her anymore so it looks normal. This is too far. What if James sees you?" He argued. Rolling my eyes, I looked over to the tree where Ashlynn was sitting, reading a book. Turning back to Remus, I patted his shoulder.
"Moony, James is in detention. And that's where he will stay until 4:30. It's only 11:15 right now, and I doubt I'll be talking to Elmer for five hours. I'll be fine, you go to the library. I'm doing this alone." I assured him. He sighed, but nodded and gestured to her.
"If you so much as look at her wrong, I'll kill you," He warned, before stalking off towards the building. Grinning, I strolled over to her tree and sat down.
"Well, well well. If it isn't the infamous Ashlynn Elmer," I drawled, causing her to jump and look at me.
Seeing that it was me and not some other bully, she relaxed slightly. Closing her book, she picked up a sketchbook instead and opened it.
"Sirius Black. I trust you are here to give me some plan to get past your friends and steal Remus' heart?" she joked, smirking. I laughed.
"Get past James and Peter, yes. As for stealing Remus' heart, well, I don't think you need any help there," I responded. She raised a brow.
"Really now? Well, I don't think I planned on doing that anyway. I'll stick to being his friend. Anyway, what brings you here on this fine day?" She changed the subject. I smirked, twirling my wand.
"Well, I just wanted to meet the girl that Remus is calling his 'great mystery'. After all, I am risking my friendship for this," I reminded her. She rolled her eyes, putting her sketchbook away so she could face me.
"No you aren't. I have a plan that tops the 'Great Brothers Black Plan', and it's ninety times simpler as well. It's actually in progress as we speak," She countered. I leaned back into the tree.
"Well, now I'm intrigued. Go on," I requested.
"Easy. I make you like me by being my wonderful self. Then, you go to your friends and convince them that I'm not the monster that the school sees me as for whatever reason. They approve and let Remus talk to me. Then I tell my friends that you guys won't hurt me. I then force you all into a truce simply by throwing a tantrum or two and making them agree to be civil, and boom. An easy agreement," she explained. I nodded.
"Well, I must say I'm impressed. However, there is one flaw. What about your friends? They're always pushing Remus around. He needs to be protected," I reminded her; she merely shrugged.
"Don't worry. I have them wrapped around my finger. It sounds manipulative, but they'll do anything for me and I am going to talk to Remus whether they like it or not," she assured me. Shrugging, I changed the subject.
"So, Ms. Elmer. Make me like you. Tell me, what are your interests?" I inquired; she laughed at my reference to her plan.
"Well, I hate most of my classes with a passion, so I cut a lot. Unless it's Defense or Charms. I love that one. I'm good at transfiguration, but I hate it. Anyway, I like reading, drawing, watching quidditch, chess, music, baking, chocolate frogs, the color blue..." She trailed off, biting her lip. "That's about all. What about you?" she asked.
"Well, I like Defense. Potions is...alright, and I'm good at it, but it's not my favorite. I hate everything else. Uh...I like quidditch, pranking, music, devil's food cake, leather, motorcycles...oh! and I like writing, although the only thing I ever write is journal entries. But don't tell anyone. That's a secret between the two of us," I smirked, and she laughed, crossing her heart.
"Gotcha. What's your favorite music group?" She responded. Sighing, I lay on the grass, looking at the sky.
"Merlin, that's like picking a favorite child? Okay, uh...I guess I've gotta say Pink Floyd. They're probably my favorite," I decided. She grinned.
"Pink Floyd? I love them! I'm also a fan of Nirvana and the Beatles; The Beatles are probably my current favorite," She enthusiastically responded. I sat up, smiling.
"I can already tell that I like you. This mission to make you not hated anymore will be a piece of cake," I assured her, grinning.
Huh.
Maybe Ashlynn Elmer wasn't so bad after all.
In fact, she seems like she could fit right in with us.
