"Let's get this over with."
"Prongs, don't be rude, she's not a monster."
"We'll see."
"You know I can hear you guys, right?" I asked, not looking up from my book. I heard the distinct thud of a book hitting someone's head.
"I told you guys. Come on. Hey, Ashlynn," Remus said. I looked up, grinning.
"Hello, Remus. Hey Sirius," I replied cheerily. I then turned to James and Peter, who looked put out and annoyed to be here.
"You must be James Potter, I think Remus has mentioned you a few times," I sarcastically quipped, knowing it would piss him off. He glared at me.
"James Potter, at your service. And you are?" He feigned not knowing who I was.
"The monster from your worst nightmares. Rawr," I laughed, "I'm Ashlynn Elmer. Pleasure to meet you," I introduced myself. He smirked lightly, reaching over and hugging me as we laughed.
"Likewise."
"Good to see you again, James."
Remus and Sirius looked between us, confused.
"Guys? What's going on?" Sirius wondered nervously. James laughed and smirked as I responded.
"We're cousins. Surprise!" I joked, doing jazz hands. Remus rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, sure. And I'm secretly in love with Professor Slughorn," he sarcastically retorted. James coughed.
"Guys, she's not kidding. Our parents make us hang out every break," he explained. Sirius raised a brow.
"Then why do you hate her so much?" he challenged.
"I don't. We have to keep up this act for...reasons."
The guys weren't convinced. Remus turned to me.
"Ash, is this true?"
I nodded. "I can't explain why right now, but I'll tell you all sometime," I assured nervously. They sat down. Turning to Sirius, I drew a check mark in the air with my finger.
"Step two, complete. Now comes getting through to my end," I informed him.
