"You like him."
"Well, duh, he's my friend."
"Ash..."
"I don't."
"Yes you do."
"Oh yeah? Prove it."
"Well, let's see. You smile whenever you think of him. You see him or hear him, and you brighten up. You blush anytime he compliments you. Hell, you blush when he smiles at you. Boom. Proof," Regulus argued. I coughed.
"Okay, so I like him. Whatever. It's not like I can do anything about it, he doesn't like me back," I snapped, falling back onto his bed. He rolled his eyes.
"You have got to be the most oblivious person on this earth. Have you seen the way he looks at you?" He questioned.
"He doesn't like me."
"Whatever, I won't argue this with you. But I'm right."
"Don't you have somewhere to be? A Slug Club party or something?" I pointedly asked. His eyes widened.
"Shit, that's right. I've gotta go. Bye!" and he was gone. Sighing, I went back to my own dorm, grabbing my bag before walking towards the Gryffindor tower.
Approaching their portrait, I spoke the password that had been given to me, walking into their common room.
The marauders were huddled around a table in the otherwise empty common room.
"Do you think she knows?"
"Of course not. Don't be silly."
"Okay, well, should we tell her?"
"Mooney, what do you think?"
"I don't know. It's a controversial topic."
"What's a controversial topic?" I asked, announcing my presence. All four of the boys jumped back, looking nervous.
"Oh! uh, Ashlynn! Hey," Remus exclaimed awkwardly. I narrowed my eyes.
"What's going on?" I asked slowly. All of the boys looked at Remus, who sighed.
"Fine. Now's as good a time as any. Come up to our room, will you?" He led the way up to their dorm, all of us following. Once inside, Remus sat down on his bed, motioning for me to sit next to him.
"Remus, are you alright? You look pale, are you sick?" I began to fuss over him, looking at his pale and tired face. He sighed.
"I'm fine. Or I will be. Anyway, I have something to tell you. I'm..." He paused, looking scared. I grabbed his hand.
"Remus, you can tell me anything. What's wrong?" I asked calmly. He took a deep breath, and blurted it out.
"Ashlynn, I'm a werewolf."
It was quiet. He looked at me, tearing up.
"You hate me, don't you? I'm a monster," He cried dejectedly. I was quick to my senses.
"Oh, Remus, no! I was just surprised, that's all. You aren't a monster, you're Remus. Remus with a condition that is widely misunderstood. It's okay. Oh, come here." I pulled him into me for a hug.
"You aren't a monster. It's okay."
He took a shaky breath.
"Well, now you know, I guess."
I smiled softly at him.
"I guess I know."
