"So, you're going back to camp tonight?" You looked at your girlfriend with pouty-eyes.

Annabeth sighed, leaning over you as you ate your breakfast. "Yes, I'm sorry. It's only for a few weeks-"

You groaned, not letting her finish her sentence. "Why can't I come with?"

"You know why, Y/N."

You were mortal. Stupid, normal, common mortal. Your perfect girlfriend was the daughter of a literal goddess, how on earth could you compete with that? Every year during the summer she goes to Camp Half-Blood from the beginning of June till the end of July-it used to be all year until she met you. Your pathetic mortal eyes couldn't even see the camp, let alone go in.

Annabeth hugged you tighter from behind, sensing how annoyed and upset you were. "You know I'd bring you if I could. But you're mortal, and you can't see through the Mist. Going to camp could actually kill you."

"I'd rather die than have you leave for 8 weeks, I'll take that risk."

Letting out a weak laugh, Annabeth poked your cheek. "One day I'll invite my friends here so they can meet you. It'll be just as if you were at camp for a day."

You got up from your seat, moving your hands around in a "NOPE" matter. "No way, Annie. I'm literally a piece of trash on legs, and you want me to meet children of gods that have saved the world? It's hard enough dating a girl that's saved the world twice when my biggest accomplishment is winning the science fair in 3rd grade."

Annabeth came over to you slowly, taking your hands in hers. "You do realize you're going to meet them one day."

You tilted your head back dramatically. "I'm so not ready for that day."

Tilting your head back to normal, Annabeth leaned in, kissing you softly on the lips. You sunk right into it, damn your girlfriend was good at kissing. The two of you brought it to your living room, falling onto the couch as you continued to kiss. She pulled back, and you whined in annoyance as she smiled at you, getting off of the couch.

"You fucking tease, I hate you." You groaned.

"Love you too, now come on. I've still got packing to do." Annabeth went to your shared room and you trudged behind, wanting more kisses from your girlfriend.

You plopped on the bed in your room, looking up at your white ceiling as Annabeth folded clothes to go in her duffel bag. Half of it had an orange glow, all saying the words "Hey you can't go to this camp haha loser." or at least that's what you believed it said.

You plucked one from the pile, holding it up to Annabeth. "Can you leave this one here?"

"Why? We have like, 80 more in the closet."

Holding the soft cloth to your face, you inhaled the scent of your girlfriend: Vanilla, a little cinnamon, and the ultimate smell every bookworm wanted-the smell of books.

"It smells more like you though." You argued, and she laughed, nodding.

"Why do you have to leave me?!" Holding an annoyed fist in the air, you semi-yelled at the ceiling.

Annabeth zipped up one of her bags. "Well, what do you normally do when I'm gone?"

You gave her your best puppy eyes. "Wait for you to come back."

"Don't go all Patrick Star on me, Y/N Y/LN." She fake-scolded you, and you rolled your eyes.

"You better come back alive, unharmed, and ready to shower me in kisses."

She gave you a peck on the forehead. "Already on it."

The worst about the situation was that Annabeth had been too nice about it. You had no reason to be mad at her, other than for her departure. But even then, she had told you when she got back from camp a year ago that she'd be going back. You had a little less than 365 days to prepare yourself for this day, but you still weren't ready. Annabeth had given you around 100 drachma, enough for you to Iris-Message her everyday, and even have some spare for emergencies.

"Maybe I'll be able to leave one weekend and we can spend a day in the city-how's that sound?"Annabeth compromised, or at least attempted to.

"I'd rather my girlfriend not leave for 8 weeks."

It was the time of Annabeth's departure. You sat at the bottom of Half-Blood Hill, seeing nothing but a large, green hill with a ginormous strawberry field behind it. You hated that strawberry field.

You weren't mad anymore, just upset. Annabeth noticed it too. You both got out of the cab, and it was you that clung to her like the world was going to end. She wasn't dying, you knew that, but tears still built up in your eyes. You wiped them before she could see-you didn't want her to get all upset too.

"Awh, babe." Annabeth cooed, rubbing little circles on your back as you hiccuped.

You didn't say anything, you only held onto her as you attempted to remember every little piece of what her embrace felt like. You wouldn't feel it again for another 8 weeks. Burying your head in her cinnamon-scented hair, you shut your eyes for a moment, taking time to breathe.

Breaking apart from the hug, you looked her in the eyes. Those gray eyes that scared you the first time you saw them was now a delight to see, you wished you could wake up and see those beautiful eyes every morning.

"I love you, you massive dork." You smiled, voice shaky.

She laughed, making your heart break a little even more. 8 weeks

Pushing her hair behind her ear, she spoke, her voice just as shaky as yours had been. "I love you too, geek almighty."
