High School sucked. Especially high school on Long Island. You glared at the ground as you walked on your way home from school. It seemed that absolutely no one understood you at your school-and you were beginning to get tired of it.
All of your old friends were too hung up on their boyfriend or girlfriend or parter or whatever to pay attention to you. Some were even able to see colors because they met their soulmate. Hell, you didn't even have a crush on anyone. Your whole school seemed extremely unattractive in your eyes.
Kicking rock onto the road, your eyebrows furrowed as you heard some noise coming up from the park. You lived in a pretty quiet neighborhood-so you jogged to see what was going on.
Your knees slightly ached from the mile run you had to do in P.E., but you ignored it as you were still trying to figure out what the hell was going on. Your eyes widened at the scene in front of you.
There was a scaly black thing with leathery skin and wings. There was a boy that seemed to be flying around it almost, slashing at it with a light sword. At the bottom of the scene was a curly haired boy, with what seemed to be fire coming off of his hands as he yelled "DIE UGLY TAX ACCOUNTANT!!"
The scene flickered in front of you-you weren't exactly sure what was happening. One moment it was a battle scene, the next just two teens having a polite conversation with a fancily-dressed woman. You rubbed your eyes, taking a few steps back. The leathery lady made eye contact with you, grinning as it swooped down and picked you up with its talons.
You screamed bloody murder, covering your eyes as the scaly tax accountant brought you higher and higher in the air. What the hell was going on?
"Leave her out of this!!" The flying boy said, gaining on the two of you.
He came face-to-face with the monster that was holding you, holding a menacing face. "Let her go."
The monster sneered, smiling wickedly. "Poor choice of words."
It let go of you, and you screamed, arms and legs flailing as your life flashed before you. Eyes watering, you gasped for breath as all you could think of was the fact that you'd never see color before you died. You stopped in mid air, and you were sure that you had hit the ground, the adrenaline flowing through your body stopping you from feeling pain.
"Hey, hey." A voice said, "You're alright. You're alive."
Peaking through your tightly shut eyes, you were beginning to hope that the person that saved you would be your soulmate. You were wrong. The person holding you looked at you with concern in black and white.
You didn't respond, only looking at him with wide eyes.
He brought you to the ground, giving a glance to his friend as he set you on your feet. The light haired boy shot up back in the air, obviously going to fight that thing.
A hand grabbed your shoulder, and you flinched. It retracted back, and you turned around, seeing the curly haired boy.
"Are you alright?" He asked, and you shook your head negatively.
You were still in shock, little tears sliding down your cheeks.
"Come here," He said, and he embraced you in his warm arms, letting you cry your tear ducts dry.
You grabbed his shirt in your fists, trying into the crook of his neck. Eyes shut, you let yourself fall into the embrace of the curly-haired stranger. He played with you hair as he hummed a tune.
You opened your eyes, rubbing the tears away. A gasp escaped your lips as the grass wasn't a shade of gray anymore.
"What is it?" The boy said, bringing you to face him.
His eyes were gorgeous, color seeming to flow out of them as the world around you changed to color. The shock on his face was enough for you to know he could see color too.
He grinned ear to ear, just as happy as you. Reaching his hand up, he brushed your hair behind your ear. You leaned into his incredibly warm touch.
"Can I kiss you?" He asked, and you blushed at his sweetness.
Answering his question, you leaned in to kiss. He was warm, his soft lips kissing yours. You felt like you were melting right into it. You broke apart the kiss, giggling with him a little.
"I don't even know your name," You said, laughing.
He laughed too, grabbing one of your hands as he swung it. The flying boy came down to the ground covered in golden dust, confused as he saw the two of you looking giddy and holding hands.
"My name is Leo." He told you.
"Y/N." You answered.
