"Baaaaabe," Percy groaned. "I'm booooored."

You laughed lightly, feeling him drape his arms over you and resting his head on your shoulder. He sighed loudly, starting to kiss the sides of your neck.

You swatted him away, not taking your eyes away from your book. "Stop, Percy. I'm scrubbing in on a really important heart surgery tomorrow and I have to study for it."

"What kind of surgery?" Percy retorted, although it didn't phase you.

"Coronary Revascularization." You answered, a hint of excitement and nervousness laced in your tone.

There was a moment of silence. "In English, please?"

You flipped a page of your textbook, eyes scanning the pages. "I'm rerouting blood flow around 2 clogged arteries so that it can help improve flow to the heart. Understand?"

Percy sighed. "I think. Thank the gods I'm not a surgeon, I would suck at it."

Continuing to read, your finger ran over the words so you could focus on them better. It was crazy to you that you'd be helping perform this surgery on a real living person. Their life was in your hands.

Percy started humming, tapping his foot to whatever song was stuck in his head. After realizing you tensed in annoyance after a few minutes, he stopped, trying to bring his attention to something else.

He began kissing your neck again.

Turning your head to meet your boyfriend's you raised your eyebrows. "I love you, I swear I do, but this is super important. This is 'someone could die and it would be my fault' important. Please, I love you, and I would love to have a make out session, but please leave me alone for this."

Percy pouted, giving you a small kiss on the lips before going off to entertain himself somehow. You smiled, extremely thankful your boyfriend understood. The reason your previous boyfriend broke up with you was because you were so caught up in your work.

You continued to read, sweat starting to build up in your palms. God, this surgery was difficult. You really didn't want to screw up, especially in front of the chief of surgery, your boss. What if your patient died on the table and it was your fault? Not one patient from the surgeries you'd scrubbed in on had died yet. So unlike the other interns, you hadn't experienced the feeling of losing a patient.

Percy came into the room, seeing you gripping your head with both hands as you shook slightly.

"Y/N?" Percy asked in concern, protective boyfriend mode turning on.

He came over and started to massage your shoulders, in an attempt to make you relax. It wasn't a surprise to him that you were starting to stress out.

"None of my patients have ever died," You mumbled. "This surgery is risky. I'm helping perform this in front of the chief, Perce I can't afford to break down if my patient doesn't make it. Oh god, what if my patient doesn't make it?"

"Babe, you're going to do just fine. You were the only intern chosen to scrub in, obviously the doctors already think highly of you." He soothed, leaning over you as he took your hands in his.

"Do you need to take a break?" He questioned, ready to baby you to the ends of the earth if you agreed.

You shook your head negatively. "I need to study."

Percy sighed and left, mumbling about calling someone. Fifteen minutes later, there was a knock at the door, and in walked Will Solace. He looked at you with sympathy, taking a seat next to you.

"Percy said you were having intern troubles." Will explained, and you felt heat rise to your cheeks.

Four and a half hours later, with a much more positive attitude, Will had guided you through the surgery, and explained to you every detail that could go wrong and how to stop it. You were definitely more confident now, with Will's medical advice. Not only had he taught you more, but he had also given you tips on how to hold your self together if your patient does die on the table.

"Y/N, really, I think you're going to do great tomorrow." Will said, sliding on his coat.

You smiled, getting up from the seat you'd been glued to for hours. "Thank you so much for helping Will, you have no idea how awesome you are."

Will have you a quick hug, smiling. "Anytime, anytime."

You shut the door gingerly behind him as he left, locking it. Sprinting towards yours and Percy's bedroom, you opened the door, seeing Percy flipping through TV channels.

"You know you're the best, right?" You said, watching as he clicked the TV off.

He smirked. "I've been told."

Percy wagged his eyebrows and you immediately knew that he wanted a "reward kiss" in the sense that he got help for you and stopped annoying you. You rolled your eyes, climbing on the bed next to him. Nuzzling yourself under his arm, you clicked the TV.

Percy took the remote from you and laughed. "I don't think so, doctor. My prescription says right here that you owe me a kiss."

You leaned up, tilting your head as you fell into the kiss with him. He rubbed your back as you two got enveloped together, leading your hands to start weaving themselves through his hair. You gently bit his bottom lip, dragging out of the kiss. He brought his hand up to your head, pushing you back towards him as another kiss began.

Maybe the end result of studying wasn't so bad after all.
