MERIDA

Mr. Schrubb's voice felt like he was so far. That's because I wasn't listening to him. He just talks too boring. Second, I was focused on something else. I've been glancing over Rap. She had been opening crumpled paper and I had no idea what it was all about and where it came from.

"What's that?" I whispered to Rap, avoiding being caught by Mr. Schrubb.

But Rap just ripped off a page from her notebook and started writing.

"What're ye doing?" I whispered again. She passed me a sheet of paper without even giving me a single look. I just shrugged and read what she wrote.

I'll tell you later.

I almost threw the paper when Mr. Schrubb cleared his throat.

"Passing notes? I think that's a little bit too old-fashion for you, Miss Hart." He said, folding his arms. "Also you, Mr. Banccup."

"As always, informal notes are to be read in front of the class when caught." He added as he read it from a list of rules that he posted on the top of the white board, long ago.

Rap looked quite embarrassed. Mr. Schrubb gestured for the paper in Rap's hands. She had no choice but to give it to him. He stared at the paper for a while and then spoke.

"Well, you're lucky you still haven't written something when I called you." Mr. Schrubb said. After that, he continued writing on the board finally cutting the heat off.

"That was close." Rap muttered to herself, sighing in relief.

I looked at Jack on my right but he seemed like he still didn't care. That bloke just can't give it up, already. Pride written all over his face. But I've known him for years and he's the kind of guy who hides what he feels. I know he couldn't last a day without talking to his best friend.

Boys! Why can't they just hook it up before I hit them in the brains? Why can't they be more open, like girls do? Oh well, there's nothing wrong if they try to be a little more open.

Six thousand years later, the bell rang making everyone groan tauntingly. Along with the others, Jack scooted out of the room. I was about to follow him when Hiccup called me.

"Hey, where are you going?" he asked me.

"I won't be long." I told him. "Just some errand, something like that. –BYE!"

I flung my backpack and tried catching up with Jack.

"Now, where is he?" I asked myself. I looked around and was lucky to see him by his locker. Everybody moved away when I ran closer to Jack.

"Jack," I called.

"Oh, hey." He said, blankly. "Thought you weren't supposed to talk to me."

"I can help ye with yer best friend problem." I answered, straight.

"Who says I needed help?" he asked me, rather saying he doesn't want to fix his problem.

"Uh, ye don't need to hide it. I can see it perfectly clearly." I said, folding my arms.

"Perfectly clearly? Really?" he replied, turning back to his locker while he chewed on to his gum which annoyed me a little.

"Didn't ye hear what I just said?"

"I did. I'm not deaf." He said.

"Then why are ye talking like my point still isn't registering in your head?"
