MERIDA
I looked at my Mum on the right side of the table, slicing her fish steak. My Dad on the other hand was telling my three younger brothers some good old stories of his that he'd been telling me when I was little.
"How was school, Merida?" Mum had asked me while she wiped her mouth with a napkin.
"It was okay..." I answered. I only had one thing in my mind that time: the ski trip. But I still need to tell Mum about it. I wasn't sure if she'd let me go.
The whole time, I was thinking of how I'd tell her. I was thinking so much, it was beginning to show off.
"Do ye have something to tell me?" Mum finally noticed.
I looked at her, anxiously. My hands were below the table, fingers crossed.
Tell her.
"Er, Mum?" I started off nervously. She nodded and waited for me to continue. Okay, this is it.
"Er... Ye see, uh... Rapunzel and her family are going somewhere and... Uh..."
The boys's voices were getting louder.
"Where?" She asked me.
"Uh... In a ski resort?" I answered but Mum just looked at me as if she couldn't hear me.
"What?" She asked again, leaning closer
"In a ski resort." I repeated, but this time, louder, although Dad and the boys's noises were still overpowering.
"Wait, what did you sa - FERGUS! WILL YE BOYS KEEP IT DOWN?" Mum stood, her palms slammed on the table.
Dad finally sat down, properly. "I'm very sorry, Elinor, dear."
"What was it ye were telling me?" Mum fianlly calmed down.
I sighed in exasperation and repeated what I said earlier.
"I said, Rapunzel is going on a vacation with her family in a ski resort... And she invited me to come." I bit my lip. Please say 'yes'.
My Mum raised an eyebrow. She gave me the look she uses whenever she's disagreeing with something.
"Ye can go, Merida." Dad answered, instead. Mum gave him the look she just used on me. "She always spent her Christmas break in Scotland. Let her enjoy, Elinor."
My Dad was always on the bright side of things. He always lets me do what I want which I really appreciate. He even taught me archery. But Mum is the absolute opposite. She's strict, everything she says should be followed, and she is ALWAYS right. At least, that's what she always say.
"Exactly why she shouldn't go because it's been our family tradition to spend Christmas in our homeland." Mum reasoned. There she goes again. "We only visit our roots every once in a year and now she wants to spend Christmas without us?"
"Give the girl a chance, dear." Dad pressed on.
"I will not agree. She will not spend her Christmas without her family and she is going to Scotland. Ye know how important this is for our family."
"Calm down, Elinor."
Both of them were arguing about me while I'm here just listening to them. Ugh, I just want to tell them to stop. I wanted to cover my ears.
While they were arguing, Hamish, Harris, and Hubert took advantage of the moment and sneakily took all the deserts from the table and clumsily ran off to their room.
