Jay's mop stroked across the convenience stoor floor, leaving it clean and glistening. Although the high school sophomore had donned the same uniform as Carson and Janice, he was still a month into his two-hour part-time job, and not yet trusted with the responsibility of manning the register or stamping on price tags.
"Hey Jay, you took inventory for the day, right?" Carson asked as he came out of the employees only room together with Janice.
"Soon as I got in, yeah," the boy replied. "You two have fun on your date."
"That's a given," Carson said with a grin, holding his fiancée by the waist.
"You take care too, okay?" Janice told the boy, who nodded in reply.
"Sure, just gotta finish up here."
